Opportunity Overview
The Research Resource Team is looking for a highly motivated individual who can produce and publish accurate and timely reporting of equity and fixed income Research data for Edward Jones clients and branches. This associate works closely with analysts and supervisory analysts to ensure all ratings and stock list changes are properly reflected in several different client strategy reports and Joneslink pages. In addition, this Senior Quantitative Specialist will be responsible for maintaining a database that archives all of these historical changes. This associate also serves as a process improvement expert who collaborates with other associates and leaders in the Research department to develop and implement reporting solutions (using MS Excel and other vendor systems) that will reduce risk and increase processing efficiency.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Retrieving, manipulating, and analyzing raw data (internal or external) that can then be transformed into relevant business information used to convey guidance to FAs and to make important firm and client decisions about exposure and risk.
• Interpreting business information, makes recommendations, and presents conclusions to leaders and associates. Requires strong working relationship with IS and product leaders.
• Creating tools to increase efficiencies and to support Research processes/decisions.
Position Requirements
• Bachelors degree in Business or Information Systems/Computer Science; Masters preferred
Minimum Years of Experience Required
• 2+ years of analytical experience
Depth of knowledge of principles and practices of a specific field of specialization
• Must understand data base architectures and be proficient at accessing relevant information from them.
• Demonstrated strong working knowledge of Edward Jones data warehouse, business model and product offerings preferred
• Ability to write complicated macros in Excel (VBA) and original data base code. Ability to work with new data base applications. Must understand data elements, architecture, and analysis, and how to relate results to our business model. Must have a working knowledge of meta data concepts.
• Demonstrated strong working knowledge of data retrieval from external investment data providers (such as Bloomberg, Morningstar Direct and FactSet)
• Strong knowledge of statistical and investment concepts.
• Solid understanding of the Edward Jones investment philosophy and business model.
