Job SummaryPayment Operations Manager provides day-to-day coordination for one or more operations areas (e.g. wire operations, ACH operations, disputes, and card services). Manages workflow to ensure efficiency and timeliness. Ensures staff is trained, monitors performance, plans work, investigates and solves problems. Accountable for consistently achieving efficient, economical performance, while meeting corporate, investor, legal and regulatory guidelines and requirements, especially Reg E timelines. Has direct accountability for hiring/termination recommendations, promotion recommendations, salary increase recommendations, performance reviews, and corrective action. Includes responsibility for obtaining acceptable or better ratings for the department on all operational and compliance audits and review of all department procedures. The position will provide direction for multiple non-exempt employees and another exempt. Also, responsible for vendor evaluations/scorecard, RFP review and third party point of contact with various partners.
Job Responsibilities:
• Manages all daily activities of the operations areas so that appropriate resources are assigned. Coordinates and sets priorities to respond to Banking Operations’ needs.
• Responsible for meeting all daily production deadlines and deadlines related to implementation of special projects and acquisitions.
• Monitors adherence to departmental policies and procedures to satisfy corporate, legal and regulatory guidelines and requirements. Responsibility includes regular and frequent audits and appropriate refinement of procedures as business needs require.
• Communicates effectively to senior manager on all important department matters and developments. Responsible for Human Resources functions of the assigned departments including staff scheduling, corrective action, performance evaluations, and hiring/termination recommendations
• Manages various vendors and contracts to ensure appropriate service levels and needs are met. (card service, wire service,, etc.). Monitors associated general ledgers to ensure timely resolution of outstanding items and to minimize financial risk to the bank. Continually analyzes department work flow and functions to gain efficiencies and reduce expenses.
• Participates in product development and testing system changes. Responsible for strategizing, planning and meeting budget goals for the department(s).
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Complete all required compliance training. Maintain knowledge of and adhere to Flagstar's internal compliance policies and procedures. Take responsibility to keep up to date with changing regulations and policies.
Job Requirements:
• High School Diploma, GED or foreign equivalent required.
• Bachelors Degree in Business, Business Management, Finance, or business related field preferred.
• 7+ years banking operations or retail banking experience.
• 3+ years managerial/supervisory experience.
• Ability to oversee employees; including coaching and mentoring, evaluating performance and set goals and objectives.
• Ability to identify and implement process improvements and install an atmosphere of continuous improvement.
• Ability to look for ways to improve and promote quality.
• Ability to coach others in a positive manner to improve service levels and business unit efficiency.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills with an ability to think quickly under pressure.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Intermediate understanding of MS Office Suite required; advanced understanding preferred.
• Regulation E for dispute processing preferred.
• Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) Certified preferred.
