Why become a Supply Chain Associate?
Our Supply Chain Associates bring a tailored approach to help develop and operationalize strategies to scale and create specific tactics that trigger transformation. Supply Chain Associates gather data and conducts analysis with the goal of improving the organization's supply chain operations. Utilizing an understanding of organizational functions and priorities, you will Identify underperforming areas in the supply chain group and assist in providing improvement recommendations or resolutions to problems. Associates will have the opportunity to transform the customer experience through strategy and innovation to lower costs and increase revenue. Within the Supply Chain practice you might be involved in:
• Assessing the structure of the supply chain, the acquisition of material and services, the flow of material, as well as inventory strategy, disposal, and calculations
• Translating business questions into a model, running and comparing scenarios, analyzing results and presenting alternative solutions
• Leveraging technology for strategic data collection and development of performance metrics
• Optimizing a client’s supply chain to streamline processes, reducing costs, and capturing value
• Helping clients embrace change and find new ways to continually improve processes
Associates will gain exposure to various areas of the practice by participating as an active member on consulting engagements by becoming an integral part of the delivery teams. As a Supply Chain Associate your primary responsibility will be assisting in the execution of high quality engagements and services from beginning to end under the supervision of experienced Supply Chain leadership. You will be responsible for efficiently managing your workload to budget and learning how to apply technical skills across our various solutions. Additional responsibilities may include:
• Performing detailed analysis to identify opportunities for improvement, documenting conclusions, and providing recommendations
• Utilizing and continuously learning new technologies to collaborate with team members and enhance service delivery
• Utilizing various data collection techniques, selecting appropriate methods and prioritization to fit project objectives and deliverables, and applying established analytical models to evaluate data, costs and benefits
• Assisting in supply chain optimization projects that integrate a cross-functional approach that includes managing the acquisition of materials and services, the movement of raw materials into an organization, certain aspects of the internal processing of materials into finished goods, and the movement of finished goods out of the organization and toward the end consumer, and payment of these goods and services
• Assisting in project implementations that effectively and efficiently meet business objectives and ensure a return on investment
• Other duties as assigned
What are we looking for in an Associate?
Interested candidates should display an affinity for learning and problem-solving skills as well as have the adaptability to work cross-functionally within the Supply Chain service line. Interested candidates should be self-starters and should demonstrate strength in or a desire to build skills related to Grant Thornton’s core values of: Collaboration, Leadership, Excellence, Agility, Respect and Responsibility.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management or Analytics - areas including Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Operations, International Business, Management Information Systems Computer and Information Systems, Finance, Accounting or Engineering. Degree requirements may vary by location
• Major and overall minimum GPA (preference) of 3.2/4.0
• Client related travel required for some projects
• Ability to travel 60%-100% as required
Skill Requirements
• Interest to work cross functionally throughout different business processes within an organization
• Excellent analytical, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
• Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Meet or exceed targeted billing hours (utilization)
• Assist practice leadership in creating proposals, budgets, and work plans. Participate in other business development activities as appropriate.
• Effective project and time management skills for handling multiple priorities and simultaneous projects
• Enthusiasm to learn through a combination of structured, on-the-job and self-directed training
• Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a complex team environment
Supply Chain Associates are exposed to various projects across multiple solutions, allowing the Associates to discover the advisory services most suited to their skills and interests. Associates can expect to work closely with other staff, managers, and partners on all phases of the engagement lifecycle including planning, engagement management, and project wrap up. In addition, Associates are expected to actively contribute to the Supply Chain Practice growth by identifying business development opportunities, participating in marketing and brand initiatives and assisting with development of Grant Thornton thought leadership.
