Job Description:
At Regions the DPO Specialized Associate II supports Specialized Debt Products Manager(s) in assessing the potential risks of existing and proposed transactions. As a member of the First Line of Defense, the individual will analyze new commercial credit opportunities, underwrite new or renewed credit exposure and manage a portfolio of loans and other credit relationships in conjunction with a Debt Products Manager. The successful candidate will gather information and perform in-depth research in order to identify, quantify and mitigate underwriting risk inherent in extending the bank’s capital. The candidate will be expected to develop strong working relationships with client management, internal teammates, credit officers, attorneys, auditors and other bankers. In some markets, this associate may be assigned a portfolio of credits for which they will have primary portfolio management, monitoring and oversight responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities
• Preparation of credit packages (Prepares credit approval packages on new and renewed debt products including determination of the appropriate risk rating as well as risk factors that could change the risk rating, analysis of financial performance, performance vs. projections, covenant compliance, relationship profitability (RAROC), and any other significant risk drivers.)
• Analysis of guarantor as needed to support credit underwriting
• Assists the Debt Products Manager with review of loan documents pre-closing
• Reviews closing due diligence in collaboration with Debt Products Manager
• Maintenance of credit files including post-closing items (Actively manages financial reporting requirements, covenant requirements, past dues and documentation exceptions and ensures credit files are complete with all up to date information)
• Tickler implementation and maintenance
• Ongoing portfolio monitoring and servicing in conjunction with Shared Services support
• Maintains up to date understanding of primary loan market pricing and structuring trends
• Validates the appropriate risk rating for a company and proactively identifies risk rating changes
• Identifies opportunities for exposure reduction or new opportunities within assigned portfolio
• Develops a strong working knowledge of and insures compliance with internal bank commercial loan policy, credit risk management policy, and external regulatory requirements; documents any exceptions to policy and related rationale/risk mitigation
This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
This position is incentive eligible.
Requirements
• Bachelors degree
• Completion of a major corporate credit training program (or the equivalent corporate banking/corporate finance experience)
• 3 to 5 years underwriting and portfolio management experience
• Ability to competently complete credit packages and credit services agreements with limited oversight

At Regions, the responsibilities of the Counterparty Credit Risk Associate (Associate / VP Level) include portfolio servicing and analysis of banks, broker-dealers, insurance companies and other financial institutions in the Regions portfolio.
The Counterparty Credit Risk Associate reports to the Debt Products Counterparty Team Manager as part of the Counterparty Risk Team responsible for identifying, quantifying, and managing Regions Bank's exposure to credit risk from financial institutions and cross border exposures. The Counterparty Credit Risk Associate will work closely with business lines (including Capital Markets, Treasury, and Global Trade Finance, among others) in order to carry out these functions, proactively meet Line of Business needs, and lend added value to those relationships.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform comprehensive credit risk analysis of financial institutions, assessing qualitative and quantitative risk factors utilizing a traditional CAMELS based underwriting methodology
• Produce approval documents and risk rating assignments based on thorough understanding of bank policy, current and emerging risk trends and regulatory issues
• Proactively manage portfolio risk, monitoring assigned portfolio for emerging and evolving risk
• Develop & manage relationships with variety of business lines creating counterparty exposure at Regions
Requirements
• Bachelor degree
• Strong analytical skills, and the ability to underwrite financial institution risk according to policy guidelines
• Superior written and verbal communications skills
• Advanced proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
• Advanced degree in Business or Finance, or;
• 2-4 years Banking experience, including meaningful experience performing formal written analysis in a bank environment
• 2-4 years of Financial Institution, Corporate or Commercial credit underwriting/portfolio management experience
• Completion of a formal Bank Credit Training program
