Overview of the Role
The most important characteristic of our Service Specialist Team is that they are passionate about helping our shareholders succeed in their financial goals. Here at Janus we have a culture of teamwork and collaboration. Your job is to help; you are on the front lines, speaking with shareholders and advisors on a daily basis. Our teams support our shareholders the same way they would support each other.
Service Specialists are customer service rock stars who are looking to grow within the finance industry. With 26% of our roles filled internally in 2014, our Service Specialist team members are our first source of internal candidates to be considered due to the great knowledge and experience they gain within the role.
You’ll go through an AWESOME onboarding/training to make you fully aware of all the shareholder services we have available so you can quickly offer a dynamic suite of services. You’ll walk out of the training knowing more about our industry than you thought you ever could!
You will be responsible for performing a variety of customer service activities including answering questions, handling redemptions, exchanges, and other transaction requests quickly and accurately to ensure the highest level of client satisfaction. We rely on you to make important decisions on the best ways for shareholders to accomplish their service goals. Identifies opportunities to proactively offer additional services that correspond to shareholder service goals. Continuous contact and interaction with shareholders and investment experts (i.e. Registered Investment Advisors).
Duties and Responsibilities
• Proactive recognition of all shareholder services to offer a dynamic suite of services.
• Provides high level of customer service to shareholders through application of industry and company knowledge.
• Thorough knowledge of the Janus website and technical understanding to decipher web and multimedia concerns.
• Processes various transactions including transfers, redemptions, and exchanges received by telephone.
• Resolves problems and corrects errors which may be complex in nature.

Technical Skills and Qualifications
• Basic knowledge of the Mutual Fund industry and financial instruments’ objectives preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal, decision-making and analytical abilities
• Ability to exercise discretion and judgment in dealing with customers
• Ability to resolve problems and correct errors which may be complex in nature
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to develop strategic business relationships
• Must have high degree of self-motivation and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to proactively seek business opportunities
• One year related experience or bachelor’s degree required
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
• NASD Series 6 and 63 licensed (must be obtained within 6 months)
Ongoing competence in the role to be assessed by:
• Annual Performance Appraisal
• Completion of all assigned Compliance training
Working Environment/Physical Activities
• Overtime may be required on short notice; may include weekend/evening/holiday hours
• Position requires the ability to work in an environment with a high volume of phone calls, transactions to be processed, tight deadlines, and high accuracy standards
• Typical office environment with PC usage up to 95% of the time
• General office equipment such as fax machine, copier, etc.
• Telephone usage up to 95% of the time
