Morgan Stanley Private Bank, N.A. seeks an Assistant Vice President, Operational Risk in Purchase, New York
Monitor all Bank activities and Regulation W (Reg W) limits on a daily basis. Review and decision exception requests from the Business Units for Reg W applicability and permissibility. Enhance Reg W controls to strengthen Bank’s overall Reg W framework. Conduct periodic reviews of the Bank’s transactions and controls to ensure they are in compliance with Reg W. Review new Bank products and activities to identify Reg W risks and implement new controls where necessary. Develop, document, and maintain Reg W Office procedures. Prepare Reg W reports for Senior Management. Facilitate internal audits and compliance tests. Assist with the New Product Approval (NPA) Process. Review NPA proposals to ensure they are in compliance with Bank and regulatory requirements. Conduct NPA Quality Assurance reviews on due diligence performed by functional areas and coordinate remediation of findings. Develop metrics and prepare reports for Senior Management.
Qualifications
Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field of study and two (2) years of experience in the position offered or two (2) years of experience as an Associate or related occupation in financial services in operational risk or compliance. Requires two (2) years of experience with: Reg W and its applicability for banking and High Net-Worth (HNW) Lending products including securities-based lending, tailored lending, residential mortgage, and commercial real estate; and investment activities including securities and derivatives transactions for liquidity management and hedging (including US treasuries, Mortgage-Backed Security TBAs, OTC Interest Rate Derivatives such as Swaps and Swaptions and Exchange Traded Products such as Futures). Will accept any amount of experience with: providing transaction-level guidance on permissible activity under Reg W to stakeholders including Financial Advisors, Private Bankers, Business Units, and Operations on a daily basis; presenting Reg W issues/concepts to Senior Management; potential risk impacts of New Product Approvals; and working with Senior Management across functional areas to develop appropriate NPA risk triggers.
