Global Finance partners with Capital Group business units to proactively provide relevant, timely and accurate financial reporting, innovative analysis and business insights that impact strategic decision-making while protecting the interests of investors/clients, associates and CG shareholders. Operating from locations in North America, Europe and Asia, core functions include business management services, management reporting and planning, accounting, and tax and treasury among others.
As a Senior Manager based in Irvine, you will have principal responsibilities for the team performing the global accounting function for Capital’s corporate entities. You will lead a large team of professional staff, including managers. You will oversee technical accounting, including US GAAP and IFRS.
You work closely with a range of groups within Global Finance and Global Business services to oversee the accounting function. Additionally, as a member of the senior management team, you will have broad responsibilities for setting goals and objectives for the department as well as long-term, strategic planning and direct involvement in the performance management process for associates and managers.
Responsibilities:
• Setting objectives and deadlines, planning through the identification of deliverables and milestones, delegating and getting buy-in, informing and serving stakeholders, and driving to results
• Demonstrating and sharing deep technical accounting expertise, including developing and leading global accounting policies; performing complex technical accounting and regulatory analysis, and encouraging the implementation of best practices in internal controls
• Manage strategic finance projects and present financial results to senior business leaders
• Set the tone in the department and ensure that the Capital Group’s core values and philosophy are reflected through consistent role modeling
• Build a high performing team, including performance management and development of future leaders, as well as manage, motivate, coach and inspire associates on the team
Qualifications:
• 10+ years of experience in a management capacity with experience building, developing, and coaching a high performing team
• 7-9 years of experience in public and private accounting within a larger corporate environment (5+ years in public Big Four preferred)
• Demonstrates ability to influence senior business leaders on technical and strategic business matters
• Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and analytical skills in areas of high complexity, ambiguity and diversity with the ability to apply knowledge to work assignments
• Demonstrates ability to lead and manage projects of significant scope across the organization
• Demonstrates ability to collaborate and develop/maintain working relationships inside and outside the organization to enable effective completion of business objectives
• A degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration and CPA is required
• Extensive knowledge of GAAP and experience in researching complex accounting matters for proper treatment
