Job Summary
Under technical direction is the primary vendor contact for the timely and accurate delivery of all payroll tax and payroll tax related processing.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
1. Liaisons with payroll vendor to identify minimize and resolve payroll tax processing problems. As subject matter expert and primary contact for payroll tax responsible for ensuring timely and accurate delivery of all requests and inquiries including but not limited to researching tax discrepancies and responding to audit requests from tax agencies.
2. Responds to Human Resources and other business units with any questions and escalates issues as needed.
3. Responsible for registering new tax accounts when employees are hired and/or move into new locations.
4. Assists Finance area with the monthly reconciliation of payroll tax related activities within the general ledger.
5. Initiates and coordinates collection activities on overpayments. Researches and analyzes reconciliations to identify overpayments and notifies vendor to begin collection actions. Meets with vendor on a monthly basis to determine which outstanding overpayments should be sent to legal collections unit.
6. Participates in year-end processing activities in support of payroll vendors. Reconciles year -end adjustments to ensure W2’s are issued timely and accurately.
May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills Knowledge & Abilities
1. Solid knowledge of corporate departmental and/or specialty accounting practices procedures and principles as they relate to the organization business unit and industry.
2. Strong knowledge of multi-state tax considerations
3. Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication and consulting skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners.
4. Ability to resolve ambiguous confidential and sensitive situations and issues.
5. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
6. Ability to work independently.
7. Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and other business related software systems.
Education & Experience
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting Finance Human Resources or related discipline or equivalent work experience.
2. Typically a minimum of four years experience in accounting or payroll tax or other related field.
