Looking for a highly motivated Senior Product Data Analyst with well-rounded experience to join New York Life Investments Business Intelligence team. The Business Intelligence and Analytics team is a center of excellence supporting our Retail Investment Management business across Distribution, Marketing, Service and Executive Management team. We partner with and support each area, leveraging data to drive business strategy, decision making and support our distribution efforts. The Senior Data Analyst position will be responsible for product data and analytics supporting New York Life Investments Retail Asset Management business. The position will primarily partner with and support Marketing and Distribution.
Responsibilities include:
• Design the data structure and data flow; automate the processes for collecting, reconciling data from multiple sources; automate the processes for performance reporting, competitive analysis reports, and various other product reports
• Develop a platform for creation and production of reports that are used in various areas of the firm
• Develop data intelligence tools for analyzing the performance and risk metrics of our Mutual Fund and ETF suite of products
• Analyze market data to identify trends and opportunities for specific investment products to help drive marketing and product strategy.
• Conduct data research to support product management efforts and provide content for the development of sales and marketing materials.
Key Attributes:
• Strong understanding of financial markets and products knowledge across Equities and Fixed Income delivered through Mutual Funds, SMAs, ETFs and alternative product structures
• Experience working with product data platforms and APIs across various data providers including Morningstar, Bloomberg, Simfund, etc
• Creative mindset around how to obtain product data from various industry platforms, organize and optimize large data sets for integration into our systems and processes to produce actionable information.
• Strong critical thinking skills and a high degree of intellectual curiosity
• Strong data visualization skills for "Story-telling" through data
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree is required. MBA, and/or industry designations (CFA®, CFP®, CIMA®) a plus.
• At least 3 years of investment-related experience in a product focused role
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills. Attention to detail a must.
• Experience linking multiple data platforms with BI and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)
• Experience working in Big data environment (Hadoop, Hive, Impala, Spark, etc.) is preferred
• Experience with SQL, and/or other data programming skills a plus
