POSITION SUMMARY:
The is a great opportunity as aSr Analyst to research and problem-solve activities on a portion of an internal client engagement or study. Sr Analysts support engagements by conducting interviews, forming sophisticated hypotheses, designing and conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses, and synthesizing conclusions and insights into recommendations for the Managing Director. Sr Analysts work collaboratively with colleagues and internal clients, and are also involved in formulating materials for presentations to internal clients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Performs sophisticated hypotheses-driven quantitative and qualitative analysis with only broad oversight
• Conducts effective client interviews
• Build financial models, prepare presentations, and conduct transaction-related due diligence.
• Conduct industry research, reviewing and assessing competitors and potential targets.
• Participate in long-term internal strategy assessments in conjunction with TIAA’s broader Corporate Strategy team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
• 2+years of professional work experiencein the area of corporate strategy
• Bachelor’s degree required
Preferred:
• Business / Financial Concepts: Theoretical understanding and practical experience with corporate strategy principles, financial statement analysis, managerial accounting, corporate finance, and project finance
• Consulting Engagement Skills: Experience with and/or working understanding of:
• Strategy and Analytical Frameworks (e.g. Porter’s 5 Forces, Value Chain, Growth Models)
• Business Cases (e.g. strategic rationale, commercial / operational assessments)
• Environmental Analysis (e.g. competitor landscape, customer segmentation, voice of customer, product trends)
• Operational Analysis (e.g. people, process, technology, product capabilities, new product development)
• Go-To-Market Strategies (e.g. target markets, sales force optimization, channel strategies, pricing)
• Economic Analysis (e.g. market sizing, financial modeling, investments and ROI, customer lifetime value)
• Statistical Analysis (e.g. survey design and interpretation, regression analysis)
• Implementation Planning (e.g. roadmaps, milestone planning, interdependencies)
• Communications: Experience developing structured and logical presentations (e.g. Minto Pyramid Principles), and leading meetings and small workshops
• MBA, JD, PhD, or other advanced degree from a leading nationally recognized program
• Demonstrated ability in data science and advanced analytics a plus
• Knowledge of financial services, asset management, and/or insurance industry a plus
• Finance-related certifications such as CFA or CIMA a plus
