Position Description
The Senior Credit Risk Director is responsible for the design and implementation of IRM's monitoring and testing of the Commercial Auto portfolio and credit policy adherence; including, development of a risk-based annual plan, documenting and communication results, and escalating issues as necessary. In addition, role will be the primary contact point for review and challenge of BL Commercial Credit Policy changes and ensuring alignment with the Enterprise Commercial Credit Policy and Enterprise Risk Management Policy.
Job Responsibilities
• Build-out a comprehensive credit risk monitoring and testing plan for the commercial auto portfolio
• Set the criteria for testing the effectiveness of controls and independently test the effectiveness of those controls
• Execute a risk-based annual testing and monitoring plan; report on results and escalate issues as necessary
• Recommend ad hoc testing based on changes in the credit or business environment or observed portfolio weakness
• Provide an independent view and 'effective challenge' to BL credit risk management activities through active engagement with BL peers and BL operating routines
• Review and challenge BL credit policies, standards, and procedures
• Review and challenge BL internal credit risk rating systems and ratings; consistency of those ratings and underwriting considerations
• Approve/disapprove credit policy exceptions
• Review and challenge BL loss mitigation strategies, credit risk related controls, and monitoring and testing routines
• Escalate credit concerns to the Chief Credit Risk Officer
• Monitor conformity with the enterprise credit policies
• Manage performance and development of assigned team
• Provide strategic direction and strong leadership for assigned area
Qualifications
• 10+ years pertinent experience in credit risk management or applicable BL
• Strong knowledge of common risk management methodologies
• Well-developed analytical and problem solving skills and experience
• Proven track record of achieving business objectives, particularly during times of organizational change and challenge
• High level of personal integrity, with the ability to handle matters professionally, and with the appropriate level of judgement and maturity
• Advanced consultative skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships with all levels of an organization
• Proven ability to manage issues through to resolution; skilled at making sound judgment calls
• Strong presence to interact with senior management, regulators, affiliates, and other third parties
• BS/BA or advanced degree strongly preferred
