The Strategy group in PII influences the future of Prudential International Insurance (PII) and helps PII operations become more effective in delivering short / medium term results and create long term value by
1. Continuously improving creation & delivery of the broad based strategic plan
2. Providing thought leadership & critical inputs to decision makers
3. Partnering in execution of key priorities
4. Enhancing communication of knowledge & information to increase efficiencies
This year, PII has also embarked on an exciting journey to think about and then systematically develop new long-term growth opportunities. V.P. Long Term Growth Programs is a new position that has been created to provide momentum to long term growth opportunities through innovation. It is envisaged that the position will have overarching responsibility for identifying PII long term growth opportunities, strengthening innovation capabilities, developing, testing and piloting new business models, and solidifying partnership to support new value propositions and business models. This role, an integral part of the PII Strategy team, will be responsible for leading, managing and gaining senior leadership alignment on innovation.
Major Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership, strategic direction, and develop / grow capabilities for long term growth programs and innovation at PII
• Develop and implement strategies for growth and innovation in PII by
a) Institutionalizing processes for analyzing business trends and market disruptions
b) Continuously searching for emerging opportunities over the next 8-10 years
c) Identifying new market spaces / new customer segments
d) Developing differentiated strategies to effectively address emerging opportunities
e) Developing, testing and piloting new / disruptive business models.
f) Supporting implementation of new business models
• Oversee different streams of innovation activities and programs
• Be a change catalyst within PII by
a) Identifying and sharing Best Practices
b) Develop compelling rationale to influence PII Regions and Businesses to implement / pilot new strategies, and models
c) Introducing PII tools and processes that encourage creative thinking
• Provide leadership to a team within PII responsible for driving innovation and long term growth
• Strengthen strategic thinking competencies within PII and its operations to address new challenges and support new lines of business and distribution channels
• Develop strategies to encourage innovation throughout the organization, and help create a culture that encourages growth, a test and learn mindset and ability to adapt to change
Qualifications
• Minimum 15 years of experience in strategy and / or marketing roles, preferably in one or more international environments
• Experience with and a track record of successful innovations
• Knowledge of individual life insurance, retirement, and group Insurance, as well as other areas of the insurance business, including products, distribution channels, profitability drivers, reinsurance and risk management
• Experience working in a matrix management environment
• Experience in building relationships and influence with diverse cultures
• Experience with communicating to influencing and operating with senior management
• Demonstrated ability to see linkages and patterns and develop constructs linking them together
• Understanding and appreciation of how consumer behaviors and cultures impact businesses, especially their sales and marketing design
• Preferably some P&L and General Business Management experience, and strong operating knowledge in many areas like marketing, product development, service management, sales, business development and customer value creation
