Job Summary:
Lead Operational Risk Scenario Analysis Workshops, provide day-to-day management of the scenario analysis program. Scenario analysis is a required element of the Bank’s Advanced Approaches methodology as well as MUAH-level CCAR/DFAST Stress Testing.
Major Responsibilities:
• Plan and assist in facilitation of operational risk scenario analysis workshops across all business lines of MUB, and across all entities within MUAH, including MFS and MUSA, as well as MUFG Bank, US. Workshop participants are typically Managing Director through Policy Making Officers as well as Chief Risk Officers and entity CEOs
• Prepare scenario outcomes for presentation to Division heads for approval, as well as preparing material for ORMC, CCAR SteerCo, and other governing bodies
• Create the annual scenario analysis plan in accordance with the Bank’s scenario analysis policy and work with the Director to ensure its completion
• Assist as needed in preparation of operational loss forecasts for regulatory stress tests such CCAR and DFAST, including design and facilitation of new scenarios and workshops
• Provide training on operational risk management and self-assessment tools and techniques to various levels within the bank
• Provide Operational Risk Management consultation to business units and BURCOs on risk and control self- assessments, key risk indicators, and other operational risk topics
• Prepare and deliver presentations to various levels of management (including senior executives of MUB and other MUAH entities) in written and verbal formats
• Maintain contacts with other institutions to keep abreast of their Operational Risk programs
• Manage relationships with scenario stakeholders, including BU Risk Managers, Third Party Managers, System Owners, Risk & Control Officers, and second line of defense risk area / risk module leaders, especially in Legal and Compliance
• Interact with BU leaders in workshop settings
• Interact with BU Heads in review/approval meeting for scenario outcomes
• Prepare executive level summaries of scenario outcomes to the ORMC and CCAR SteerCo
Qualifications
• Strong understanding of industry standard operational risk concepts and frameworks
• Knowledge of operational risk-related regulatory guidance, including risk and control self-assessment, internal loss data and scenario analysis
• Knowledge of risk governance framework, risk management systems and applicable guidance
• Solid understanding of the banking industry, financial and regulatory requirements, product offerings and key operational processes
• 5 years of advancing experience in advisory and/or analytical risk position
• Ability to influence without direct authority across multiple stakeholder groups in 1st and 2nd LOD
• Ability to execute in a dynamic environment with senior and executive management
• At least three years’ experience in an operational risk position in a financial institution
• Strong analytical skills & problem solving capabilities
• Detail oriented and well organized
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Strong work ethic, ability to make decisions, & work under tight deadlines
• Proven skills and understanding of identification and assessment of risks and controls.
• Experience in writing policy and procedure
• Some travel required
• Bachelor’s degree or higher
