AXA US has a long history in protection products and they are the backbone of the insurance business. To support Financial Protection business area, AXA has an immediate need for an Actuary Director - Life Modeling & PBR. The Director will be part of the Core Modeling Team (CMT) and will lead the financial & risk analysis and reporting for the new Principles Based Reserving (PBR) reporting and reserving requirements. The Financial Protection business is repricing the existing portfolio for 17 CSO and PBR. There will be a number of products to be brought into the new framework over the next year for both Variable Interest Sensitive and Traditional Products. In addition, the company is responsible for improved and rigorous model controls. The position will be responsible for:
• Work with the Financial Protection business to bring over newly priced products to our valuation and inforce projection model in GGY-AXIS. Models will be used project statutory reserves, statutory, GAAP, and IFRS earnings and balance sheets.
• Maintain and enhance Variable Interest Sensitive Models
◦ Implement, quantify and review assumption changes & product updates
◦ Streamline modeling & reporting processes as needed
◦ Ensure appropriate model governance and controls
• Project, analyze, summarize and communicate results of the AXIS models for PBR Reporting and impacts on:
◦ Solvency 2 reporting, including EEV (European Embedded Value), Short Term Economic Capital (STEC) and Risk Appetite
◦ Strategic Plan modeling (Statutory and IFRS basis)
◦ New Business Value (NBV) projections
◦ Cash Flow Testing / Asset Adequacy Testing
• Serve as a PBR subject matter expert to the Core Modeling Team with respect to product features, models and risks. Liaise with Financial Protection team, valuation, administrations, accounting and systems teams as needed.
The role will also have the responsibility of assuring model control standards within the Life Core Modeling Team. Assuring that standards are met for:
• Inadvertent Change Testing
• Model Owner Reviews
• Prioritization of the Model Findings Inventory
• Establishing Estimated Financial Impacts
QUALIFICATIONS:
• FSA
• 10+ years of modeling and valuation experience
• 5+ years knowledge of Life Insurance market/products
• Strong knowledge of PBR regulations and reporting requirements
• Strong modeling skills – knowledge of AXIS platform preferred
• Strong quantitative orientation, analytical skills, a high level of intellectual curiosity, tolerance for ambiguity and seasoned judgment.
• Demonstrated collaboration and leadership skills to interface with various internal teams
• Must be comfortable dealing with both complexity and ambiguity and be able to explore multiple solutions to a problem.
• Must be able to present/defend solutions/positions based on an analysis of facts.
• Ability to supervise one actuarial student and potential offshore staff in India as needed
• Ability to communicate complex issues to upper management.
• Self starter and outgoing.
• Good communication skills.
