Overall purpose of role
The Americas Head of D&I is responsible for the continuing evolution and execution of the firm’s Global Diversity and Inclusion strategy along with the leadership and deployment of global agenda(s) (inclusive of the IHC). The Americas Head of Diversity will also provide leadership and subject matter expertise to Americas CEO/Mgmt office, US ExCo, regional/Business Diversity Councils and IHC Board (upon request), driving execution against the agreed action plan and accountability metrics.
The Americas Head of Diversity will also provide leadership and subject matter expertise to the Business Diversity Councils, driving execution against the agreed action plan and accountability metrics.
Additionally,
• Ensure the assigned regional/business cluster achieve their commitments as they pertain to diversity, including subject matter expertise around MBR execution.
• Lead on the assigned global agenda(s), evolving the strategy; guiding the networks; and ensuring the overall delivery of the agenda’s plans through the governance model of oversight board; listening groups, networks, chapters and forums. Maintain excellent relationships with external partners aligned to the respective agenda.
• Partner with regional/business HRD’s and their leadership teams to embed the diversity and inclusion strategy in all aspects of HR activity and to collaborate with HR colleagues to engage with business stakeholders.
• Act as an integral team member regarding strategy and implementation of diversity initiatives across the firm
• Responsible for ensuring that the firm’s commitment to diversity and inclusion is integrated into all facets of business strategy, policies and processes
• Responsible for ensuring the firm’s diversity initiatives are impactful, measureable and sustainable to attract, develop and retain a talented, diverse workforce

Key Accountabilities
The Americas Head of Diversity plays an integral role in the design and implementation of a global diversity strategy across Barclays, which results in corporate culture of embracing diversity at all levels.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Provide specialist Diversity leadership and support to agreed business areas, regions and agendas
• Proactively engage with HRBPs within the business units/Functions to ensure an appropriate awareness and understanding of the broader diversity and inclusion agenda
• Develop and embed the Diversity strategy in agreed business areas and regions , determining priorities and deliverables within the business unit
• Increase Diversity competence & capability across the HR function and with line management
• Operate appropriate governance, including goal setting across regional/business clusters and business aligned diversity councils.
• Provide input to pan-Group Diversity initiatives and execute as required.
• Coach, develop and performance manage the D&I teams in agreed business areas and regions
• Remain up to date with developments both in the UK and internationally, building external networks and knowledge,
• Act as an internal consultant, make recommendations and influence the firm’s direction on the Diversity agenda
• Create and cultivate relationships both inside and outside the organization to support the Diversity agenda within Barclays and advocacy in the communities where we operate
• Deliver against our goal to be recognised as an employer of choice by acting as a “Diversity Ambassador” for Barclays by speaking at periodic conferences and events in the community as well as identification and achievement with market awards/branding
• Deliver specific projects as delegated by the global head of diversity and inclusion
Risk and Control Objective
Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.
Person Specification
Basic Qualifications/Skills:
• 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years of experience working with Diversity programmes, processes, policies and metrics, including the ability to integrate diversity and inclusion into all facets of an organisation.
• 5+ years of experience in programme management, HR management, strategy or career development
• 5+ years of Management and Leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
• Superb project management skills and an ability to interface effectively with all levels across Barclays
• Confident and credible in dealing with, presenting to, and influencing senior stakeholders and in dealing effectively and sensitively with the dynamics inherent in large, diverse organisations
• Exceptional leadership ability – a relationship builder, advisor, and results-oriented change agent
• Excellent organisational skills – ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
• Results driven, fully accountable for own initiatives
