The Position
As a member of the FIAM Equity Quant Team, the Quantitative Research Associate (QRA) will predominantly support the team’s infrastructure and may grow into a role that includes research responsibilities. The work will include maintaining and growing the group’s research database, factor library, and model infrastructure as well as data quality monitoring and reporting.
The QRA will maintain databases and infrastructure critical to the strategies managed within the group and leveraged for research across the organization; therefore, working efficaciously with high precision is critical to being successful.
Opportunities for research projects, including deep quantitative research, may also be available. These projects may pertain to:
• Existing strategies managed by the FIAM Equity Quant Team,
• New strategies the team is developing, or
• Ad-hoc projects from investment professionals across the FIAM Equity platform (fundamental portfolio managers and analysts, CIO office, COO office, etc.)
Investment professionals often have an investment idea or hypothesis that requires empirical analysis for support. These types of projects could include:
• Alpha generation,
• Model building,
• Attribution,
• Optimization, etc.
The ability to conceptualize the question and apply a quantitative approach to the solution is invaluable.
The QRA will be required to intelligently discuss investment topics with investment professionals, understanding their requirements, and be able to deliver results quickly, accurately, and coherently. An ability to explain quantitative concepts to a non-quantitative audience is vital.
