The Accounts Payable/Premium Payables Supervisor reports directly to the Premium Payables Manager and is responsible for Supervising and performing as part of a team. The team is responsible for the Premium Payables and Broker Commission Payables process for the Property & Casualty, Benefits and Wholesale business in various Broker Management systems and G/L systems. The key responsibilities include ensuring premiums are remitted to the carriers according to carrier market terms and broker commissions are paid to external brokers in accordance with company policies. This position is responsible for both the onshore and offshore teams' delivery of accurate, timely, and efficient work-product, coupled with strong customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Supervise the premium and broker commission payables process in accordance with carrier/wholesaler payment terms
• Monitor accuracy and timeliness of disbursements by onshore and offshore teams
• Monitor accuracy and timeliness of client/premium finance company return premium disbursements
• Monitor any notice of cancellations and perform root cause analysis
• Provide timely and accurate reporting of aged open payables due to the carriers/wholesalers and debit payables owed to HUB
• Perform approval process as needed in accordance with authority level
• Analyze, research and resolve complex problems
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with client service operation team and markets
• Serve as escalation path to markets and client service teams for urgent or mishandled transactions
• Lead, coach, develop, evaluate and monitor the team
• Review and implement process improvements for department and off-shore team
• Contribute to a cooperative team environment and work across departments as necessary, in order to meet department deadlines and goals
• Provide direct support to Premium Payables Manager as required
Required Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or equivalent job experience
• At least 5-7 years of experience in the accounting field
• Minimum 5-7 years of supervisory experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
• High degree of accuracy with a good eye for detail
• Self-motivated and pro-active
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative and achieve results in a fast-paced and changing environment
