We are currently seeking a qualified candidate to join New York Life Investments’ (NYLIM) Global Products Group. The candidate will be a key contributor in developing NYLIM’s global product strategy though intelligence gathering and the analysis of global asset management trends. The candidate will work closely with our boutiques to identify and prioritize new product / business opportunities. The candidate will be responsible for developing a global view of opportunities in the asset management business and periodically presenting recommendations to the NYLIM Management Committee. This position provides a role with great independence and an opportunity deepen and broaden one’s exposure to strategic thinking across the global asset management industry.
The Global Product Group’s objective are to facilitate NYLIM’s long-term global growth initiatives while maximizing the opportunity in the U.S. retail markets. To accomplish these objectives the Group focuses on 4 key areas:
• Research – market intelligence, product intelligence, and investor needs/trends
• Facilitation – identifying, sourcing and evaluating new product ideas
• Implementation – building vehicles to meet investor needs
• Monitoring – proving product support through their life-cycle
Product strategy is a key component of NYLIM’s strategy to grow as a leading global asset management firm. As a result, we are now seeking an experienced individual to lead our global product strategy efforts.
Responsibilities:
• Gather intelligence on industry trends including competitor activity and regulatory changes. Conduct research and triangulate information with boutiques, distribution teams and third-party data to develop NYLIM Global Product Strategy recommendations based on short, medium and long-term opportunities
• Pro-actively provide analytical insights and raise product / business opportunities on what NYLIM’s global product platform should evolve towards over different timeframes.
• Establish and maintain an industry wide netowrk of contacts to allow NYLIM to anticipate changes in investor behavior and issues affecting the industry.
• Administer overall NYLIM seed capital process, including initial and ongoing review in collaboration with New York Life’s Office of the CIO.
• Support M&A efforts by conducting ongoing industry review to identify potential strategic partners which add capabilities to the platform to meet current and future client needs.
• Collaborate with the global product development team and boutiques on key design elements of new products including portfolio guidelines, fees and share classes and/or vehicles.
• Support ongoing product management including: analyses of expenses, performance, AUM, net flows; recommend enhancements to existing products to evolve them for current and future client needs.
Qualifications:
• Expert on the global asset management industry
• 10+ years of experience deep knowledge of investment techniques, financial markets, pooled product structures and distribution trends across client types and geographies
• Strategic thinker with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, possess intellectual curiosity and open-mindedness to new and innovative solutions
• Solid understanding of NYLIM’s product offerings and investment capabilities
• Ability to work effectively under pressure while multitasking, adhering to tight deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal and people management skills in interacting with various stakeholders
• Effective communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal to clearly articulate sophisticated concepts, ideas and processes
• Highly organized with efficient time management skills
• High level of self-motivation, intellectual curiosity, discipline and professionalism
• BA/BS required; MBA or CFA strongly preferred
