Responsibilities
The Client Services department is responsible for delivering excellence in service on behalf of our products, strategies and Oaktree operations to limited partners globally. The client services professional will interact directly with clients and coordinate with Oaktree’s Marketing representatives as well as all Oaktree departments, including Portfolio Analysis, Risk & Reporting, Product Management, Diligence Services, Legal, Compliance, Accounting and Portfolio Management to lead and direct client needs throughout the firm.
Client Inquiry Management
• Serve as the primary point of client contact for non-administrative operational/firm ad-hoc and recurring inquiries for a subset of U.S. based clients
◦ Receive client requests (received from Client Services inbox, Marketing Representative or directly from client)
◦ Evaluate requests against established disclosure rules
◦ Quarterback evaluated client requests through resolution
# Understand Oaktree’s operational structure, systems and processes to be able to draft responses to client inquiries where appropriate
# Where information is not readily available, coordinate with the appropriate internal resources to respond to client requests
• Coordinate requests through to completion that contain both operational/firm and product-related components
• Respond to a subset of product-related inquiries for our U.S. and Global High Yield Bonds strategy
• Serve as the subject matter expert for a subset of the following topics (which are holistically covered within Client Services): ILPA, ESG, accounting topics such as statement or fund financials reconciliations, regulatory and compliance topics, Oaktree organization, Oaktree policies, operational due diligence
• Develop working relationships with various Oaktree teams in order to best meet our client needs
• Stay current on regulatory changes that may impact client servicing (e.g. Dodd-Frank, EMIR, FATCA, etc.).
Client Meeting Management
• Organize and serve as primary host for client review meetings for reviews covering more than one strategy and facilitate meeting follow-up as appropriate
• Organize and host operational due diligence meetings and conduct meeting follow-up as appropriate
• Organize and host other client meetings, as needed
Client Relationship Management
• Collaborate with clients’ Oaktree Marketing Representative (the primary point of contact) to manage the relationship and improve retention and client satisfaction
• Potentially serve as the single point of contact for all service inquiries, administrative and non-administrative, for a select number of high profile, cross-strategy invested clients and consultants. Develop strong working relationships with the operating and investment functions at these client organizations; gain an understanding of how the client operates in order to better service them
Qualifications
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the financial services industry;
• Ability to interact directly with clients;
• Superior communication skills, both written and verbal;
• Solid foundation in investment finance concepts and ability to acquire thorough knowledge of the legal, accounting, compliance and operational aspects of the investment products offered by Oaktree;
• Highly resourceful; ability to exercise superior judgment regarding client requests: to interpret them, ask appropriate questions, do homework, and only expend internal resources of the firm for the most relevant, needed situations.

Education
Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA or CFA a plus
