The Role
As a New Business Associate, you will contribute to the success of Underwriting & New Business by partnering with co-workers to create and maintain a high performance organization that meets business needs, client and employee expectations. You are responsible for accurately administering new life insurance applications from receipt of application to final status. Tasks may include reviewing documents for completion & accuracy; confirming agent licensing/appointment with appropriate guidelines; & entering case data.
Responsibilities
• Processes insurance applications from receipt to final status in accordance with established procedures and guidelines in a timely manner and meeting departmental quality/production standards
• Reviews documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with state regulations
• Confirms agent licensing/appointment meets guidelines
• Accurately enters new case data into appropriate systems
• Evaluates submitted forms for: appropriate version received, proper signatures, and ensures cash with application guidelines met
• Works closely with underwriting team to communicate on casework and achieve goals
• Resolves technical and business errors/issues in accordance with established procedures and guidelines
• Provides customer service to internal/external stakeholders; recognizes what needs to be done to meet stakeholder needs and demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness to meet those requirements.
• Works with customers to respond to requests
• Takes ownership of issue resolution to provide seamless customer service
• Applies core knowledge, obtained from the role, to effectively and promptly communicate sensitive or technical information while adhering to HIPAA and corporate privacy guidelines
• Escalates issues/concerns to more senior team members and/or management
• Recognizes general issues/concerns and suggests process improvements
Education
• High School Diploma or GED required. Undergraduate Degree preferred - educational orientation in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance preferred
• Willingness to obtain LOMA Level 1 (completion of 280 / 281 and 290 / 291), Customer Service (ACS) designation
Experience
• 0 - 1 years of experience in the Financial Services industry, having a working knowledge of life insurance is preferred.
• 1 – 2 years of experience in Customer Service preferred
• Educational experience and/or Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
• A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding expectations
• Possesses a bias for action and avoids workplace distractions
• Drives performance targets to completion
