What does a great Business Systems Analyst do?
The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) works as a liaison among the stakeholders and advocates for stakeholders in order to elicit, analyze, communicate, manage and validate requirements for the creation of new or modification of existing processes, programs, products, policies and information systems. As the voice of stakeholders, the BSA understands business problems and opportunities in the context of the proposed initiatives and helps stakeholders define requirements for solutions that meet business needs, goals, and objectives.
Within the BIST team, Staff BSAs focus on identifying stakeholder information and data needs and working with the delivery teams to determine the most efficient and intuitive manner in which to distribute the information and data to help answer known and unspecified business questions. Staff BSAs may also be expected to coordinate efforts on smaller scale projects when a formal project leadership is not available.
Basic Qualifications for Consideration:
Education - Degree in Information Systems/Technology, Business Administration or related discipline preferred.
• 3 plus years’ experience required
• Type of work experience required - Business Analysis, Data Analysis, Business Intelligence, Project Management, Engineering, or Software Quality Experience in an Agile environment.

• Proven analytical skills, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Exceptional listening and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with use of User Story/User case creation requirements gathering/analysis tool.
• Willingness to learn and in other disciplines such as documentation, project management, and QA.
• Strong requirements elicitation skills (able to effectively utilize multiple elicitation techniques like interviews, requirements facilitation sessions, documentation analysis).
• Strong knowledge of SQL. (construct query statements)
• Basic knowledge of data warehousing and data modeling principles and techniques.
• Basic understanding of BI and ETL tool capabilities and uses. (informatica and business objects)
• Basic conceptual knowledge of roles and responsibilities within BI and data warehousing (DA, ETL, BI, DBA, and QA).
• Modeling skills such as Data Flow Diagrams, Entity Relationship Diagrams, State-Transition Diagrams, Process Diagrams and Decision Diagrams/Trees.
• Strong understanding of business products, how they work, and how they store and interact with data (understanding data flow from creation to presentation).
• Expert communication, presentation, and writing skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong negotiating skills.
• Extensive working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio and MS Project.
• Results Oriented.
Travel required: 5%
