Assurant develops, underwrites and markets specialty insurance, extended service contracts and other risk management solutions in collaborative relationships with leading financial institutions, retailers, automobile dealers, utilities and other entities. Principal lines of business include lender-placed insurance, renters insurance, manufactured housing insurance, financial services, preneed life insurance, and warranties and extended service contracts on appliances, consumer electronics, automobiles, recreations vehicles and boats. Our companies serve clients and their customers throughout North America, the Caribbean and selected countries in South America, Europe and Asia.
In this position, you will support the Actuarial Information Management team, which is responsible for a wide range of activities to review, monitor, resolve and respond to data requirements for the company’s policies, products and services with state insurance departments and other regulatory entities. The team also manages Assurant assessment expenses and related accounting and data work. In addition to the regulatory responsibilities, the team supports Actuarial and other areas of the organization for data and system needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare journal entries, flux analyses and check requests for various state assessments
• Communicate with state associations such as DOIs, residual markets, and guaranty funds when needed to clarify statutory requirements
• Document requirements for new product installations, new client installations, and new reporting responsibilities
• Extract data from various source systems and verify accuracy of data
• Support data needs for actuarial
• Assist in preparation and analysis of regulatory reporting; manages reporting deadlines, communicating to various teams
• Interprets business requirements to help provide data-driven solutions for business problems
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• College degree in Math, Statistics, Information Management, Actuarial Science, Finance
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated, disciplined, and fast learner
• Proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, OneNote, etc.)
• Basic programming for any relational database (such as SAS, SQL, R, Python)
• Ability to switch between projects easily; multitask
