Job Description
Everest Insurance, a member of the Everest Re Group, Ltd. has a new opportunity in its expanding Accident & Health group. This position offers high visibility, growth potential and exposure to a variety of product lines.
Responsibilities:
• Evaluate, peer review pricing and propose rate and strategy on new and renewal Medical Stop-Loss Insurance prospects;
• Provide recommendations on case level medical/clinical reviews that are part of the underwriting process
• Perform clinical research to determine dollar value of risk, appropriate lasering, etc.
• Use Excel and Everest’s account management system to write reports and perform analyses on particular groups or blocks of business;
• Manage the sold case process including underwriting terms and conditions and administrative reporting;
• Manage assigned workload to meet productivity and time service standards;
• Develop and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients, including MGU’s, TPA’s, brokers and benefit consultants.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree
• A minimum of 4 - 6 years of medical stop loss or large group underwriting experience or a combination of underwriting and claims or clinical experience;
• Ability to work both independently as well as in a team environment including other underwriters, actuarial, claims and administration;
• Experience with other A&H product lines;
• Experience with ERISA plans and medical stop loss policy forms;
• Comfort using various medical stop loss pricing manuals and rating models;
• Familiarity with medical terminology;
• Proficiency using Microsoft Excel;
• Strong communication and analytical skills;
• Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to multi-task and manage a high volume workload.
