Major Responsibilities:
• Prepares fiscal and excise tax provisions, tax returns and related tax filings. Prepares certain tax adjustments for inclusion in provision analysis.
• Interacts with external accountants during audit/tax provision cycles
• Interacts with Financial Reporting and Fund Oversight personnel in order to provide tax related journal entries and financial-statement disclosures
• Prepares compliance tests to maintain each fund’s Regulated Investment Company (RIC) status.
• Assists in calculation of income and capital gain distribution calculations.
• Assist in preparation of year-end shareholder tax reporting.
• Review US tax treatment of corporate actions such as mergers, acquisitions, spin offs. Advise other internal departments to ensure optimal tax accounting and reporting.
• Assists with department & company projects to ensure appropriate planning, testing, and implementation occur to ensure proper treatment within the mutual funds.
• Assists in continuous improvement initiatives and will be expected to analyze processes for improvement opportunities
• Builds and maintains knowledge of tax adjustments in order to assist in problem resolution and process improvement.
• Assists with maintaining current documentation of policies and procedures, including uncertain tax positions memorandums under ASC 740, as well as identifying enhancements.
• Conduct research on tax issues, shareholder questions and other internal inquiries.
Required Skills:
• Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 1+ years of tax or accounting experience
• All candidates must be eligible to work in the United States on a permanent, full-time basis.
Preferred Skills:
• Regulated Investment Company (RIC) Taxation, Corporate Taxation, and/or taxation of individuals
• Focus on Taxation preferred.
• CPA highly preferred
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office products preferred
• Highly proficient use in Excel for example pivot tables, vlookups, etc
• Excellent communication ( written and oral), with senior leaders and peers, facilitation, interpersonal and collaborative skills
• Ability to work independently on assignments and to use critical thinking skill to solve problems
• Strong attention to detail in the preparation of workpapers and in the presentation of said workpapers to managers
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to handle multiple assignments with different managers
