The Private Wealth Management (PWM) group is focused on delivering high touch holistic wealth management services to ultra-high worth clients. This business unit is organized into specific service offerings: First Republic Investment Management offering fee based discretionary services, First Republic Securities Company offering brokerage services, First Republic Trust Company, asset management/Capital markets, FX and Insurance. There are Product Managers within the PWM business and the dedicated PWM IT team that are responsible for the delivery and support of wealth management tools and capabilities. This Program Director partners with these product managers and the PWM IT team to understand, prioritize and deliver these tools to meet current and future business needs. The individual in this role is responsible for successful project delivery that achieves agreed upon business goals and outcomes. This requires considering how multiple products and tools will work together in the full Wealth Management ecosystem and an ability to ‘connect the dots’ within and between projects in a cohesive delivery of product and process improvements.
The Program Director is expected to work with multiple business teams within PWM as well as the PWM Technology and Enterprise Technology teams. The Program Director should be able to clearly convey the execution, timelines and business value of projects that align to the Product Management view as part of that ecosystem. The Program Director needs a deep understanding and experience with Agile methodologies.
Candidates should be able to display a history of success working within a Wealth Management environment, delivering tangible success to support the growth and evolution of Wealth Management firms.
The Program Director must demonstrate creative problem solving and an ability to create and deliver executive presentations.
Responsibilities
• Directs, on behalf of a defined set of business partners, a large set of projects as a cohesive program including capital planning, business case development, planning, reporting, and execution.
• Serves as the Director of project managers and other resources working across a large program on behalf of specified business partners; this may include managing management staff across many programs or projects.
• Serves as strategic partner between various business units, vendors, Information Systems, Information Security, Internal Audit, and impacted business units. Manages project and program steering committees.
• May manage vendor relationships between account executives and FRB business and technical units to manage contract reviews and addenda, Service Level Agreements for system availability, Disaster recovery, and service request escalation.
• Adheres to, contributes toward, and mentors staff on the Corporate Project Process and contributes to its continual improvement.
• Evaluates, monitors, and manages risks across the program. Escalating as appropriate
• Ensures adherence to budgeting, financial forecasting, cost accounting standards across the program or programs.
• May conduct quarterly contract reviews for additional license needs and upgrades to support additional licenses determined by FRB management.
• Assists Information Systems management in data gathering for regulatory and third party reviews.
• Attends technology related seminars, trade shows, and training programs
• Maintains a flexible work schedule
Qualifications
• Requires a four-year college degree with emphasis in a related field or equivalent skill, knowledge, or professional development.
• MBA or relevant graduate degree preferred.
• Formal training in project or program management and/or certification required.
• Requires the flexibility to act in a strategic management role as when required.
• Advanced knowledge of project and program management.
• Advanced knowledge as a subject matter expert in the program area including systems and operations.
• Ten years of experience or more in project/program management and/or relevant banking or technical operations management.
• Experience and understanding of the wealth management industry and processes
• Must have 7 or more years’ experience with direct management level staff.
• Ability to influence others and build strong partnership with others.
• Must possess excellent written and oral communications skills and the ability to clearly define projects, objectives, goals, schedules and assignments.
• Must be able to clearly define and present ideas, and effectively communicate with all levels of management.
• Must possess the ability to work effectively with business personnel at all levels as well as with outside vendors and contractors.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, MS Visio, and MS SharePoint.
Mental/Physical Requirements:
• The ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions; understand the meanings of words and respond effectively; and perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly.
• Vision must be sufficient to read data reports, manuals and computer screens.
• Hearing must be sufficient to understand a conversation at a normal volume, including telephone calls and in person.
• Speech must be coherent to clearly convey or exchange information, including the giving and receiving of assignments and/or directions.
• Position involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
• Must be able to travel in a limited capacity.
