ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Confer with business analyst and personnel to identify problems and learn specific input and output requirements such as forms of data input, how data is to be summarized, and formats for reports.
• Write detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify computer programs.
• Review computer system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations to determine if requested program or program change is possible within existing system.
• Study existing information processing systems to evaluate effectiveness and develop new systems to improve production of workflow as required.
• Plan and prepare technical reports, memoranda, and instruction manuals as documentation of program development.
• Upgrade system and correct errors to maintain system after implementation.
• Special Projects – Assist with development of new third party system with interfaces potentially to the Talisys/CSS system, Internal conversions of data (money market conversions), etc.
• Assist developers and/or business analysts in resolution of work problems related to flow charts, project specifications, or programming relating to the Talisys System (CSS) and various third party applications.
• Organize, maintain and track time related to assigned projects.
• Attend scheduled meeting regarding project assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent from a four-year college or university, plus 2 - 5 years related experience, and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, the candidate must have basic computer skills including experience in Web programming, Client/Server programming, .NET and other object oriented languages, knowledge of MS SQL Server or other database languages. Proficient with Microsoft Office, Email and Internet.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong organization and communication skills. Creativity and ingenuity to create more efficient applications. Requires a high level of technical skill and the ability to work where there are frequent time constraints and can be stressful at times. Due to deadlines imposed by management, regulatory agency filing, year end audits, and regulatory exams, this can potentially limit when this position may take vacation. Ability to work non-standard hours and travel if required.
