Job Description
Senior Retirement Plan Consultant, Wealth Management
The Senior Retirement Plan Consultant is responsible for selling Retirement Plan business to clients and educating Wealth Management colleagues on products and services offered within a specific geographic territory. The Senior Retirement Plan Consultant reports to the Regional Sales Manager within their market on all matters concerning specific client relationships and net new business goals. The Senior Retirement Plan Consultant's direct involvement in business development is expected to contribute to the achievement of the annual new business goal for Comerica Securities.
Position Competencies
Successful incumbents have strong decision making and problem solving skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, knowledge of financial markets and instruments, demonstrated customer presentation and customer service skills and demonstrated sales experience.
Position Responsibilities:
Sales:
• Work with the Regional Sales Manager to obtain data necessary to secure, analyze, and present Retirement Plan proposals that meet customer objectives.
• Collect and manipulate client data for use in creating complex and detailed Retirement Plan quotes for clients
• Maintain a good working knowledge of Retirement Plan products available in the market; use this knowledge to market products to bank clients and non-clients.
• Conduct complex and detailed Retirement Plan analysis for clients/prospects; which includes: working effectively with Retirement Plan carriers to secure the most competitive proposals, analyzing proposals to determine whether they meet customer requirements, and presenting results of the analysis to the bank's client/prospect in the required timeframe, and close the sale.
• Work with clients to secure renewal pricing from existing Retirement Plan carriers and present them to the client 30 days in advance of each clients renewal. This includes securing and submitting any data required by the carrier in order to complete the renewal offer.
• Responsible for cross selling other Comerica products to clients
Retirement Plan Relationship Management:
• Maintain positive relations with clients and Retirement Plan carriers, acting as a liaison between customers and Retirement Plan companies.
• Retirement Plan Renewal Management:
• Responsible for the servicing the block of Retirement Plan business and working with companies to renew policies, and resolve complex issues, billing and claims issues.
Administration:
• Responsible for maintaining client files and databases as well as issuance and mail processing.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures.
• Proactively recommend and implement measures to reduce or eliminate the risk of E&O liability to Comerica.
Travel
Some travel is required of this position.
Relocation
No relocation assistance is provided for this position.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree OR 5 years of business development in the Financial Services Industry
• 5 years of ERISA experience
• Series 7, 63 & 65, or Series 7 and 66 required
• State Life & Accident insurance license required
