Voya's Senior Employee Relations Consultant provides strategic Employee Relations consulting from a broad-based HR perspective leveraging subject matter expertise and technology. Collaborates with key HR, business and cross-functional partners to ensure resolution of escalated employee relations issues in alignment with company values and operating principles. Influences managers and employees to align behaviors with best practices and build an inclusive work environment and culture of high performance. Identifies and manages employment risks. Strategically consults on the employee impact of enterprise initiatives. Supports the development and implementation of workplace policies and Employee Relations programs in alignment with corporate strategy and compliance with regulatory requirements enterprise-wide.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Consult with and coach managers and employees on workplace issues. Develop, recommend and support practical solutions to workplace issues across the enterprise. Incorporate business and employment action implications into recommendations. Utilize conflict management techniques to bring escalated issues to resolution. Collaborate with HR, cross-functional and business partners and leverage enterprise resources to effectively manage and resolve complex Employee Relations cases. Facilitate effective workplace communications and relations, mitigate employment risk and promote high performance and best practices. Conduct and support the effective investigation of internal and 3rd party complaints and collaborate with Legal and Compliance partners on effective resolution. Participate in regulatory and legal proceedings under the direction of Legal staff. (70%)
• Effectively analyze employee relations data, work environment factors, enterprise initiatives and regulatory developments to provide strategic consulting on systemic issues, potential enterprise risk, best practices and regulatory compliance. Recommend solutions including adjustments to workplace policies and practices as appropriate. (15%)
• Lead or participate in projects and initiatives that are broad in scope or which have significant employee relations impact to the organization. Deliver Employee Relations services efficiently and effectively. Leverage organizational resources and continuous improvement mindset to recommend policy and process improvements. (5%)
• Collaborate with HR and cross-functional partners to support management and employee development interventions including training initiatives on relevant areas of employment law, company policy, skills enhancement and management practices. Coach and mentor internal allied/employee relations resources to develop their skills and assist in managing complex and challenging workplace issues. (5%)
• Perform other duties as assigned. (5%)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Minimum of 8 -10 years of progressively responsible HR and Employee Relations experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in consulting, influencing, communicating and working collaboratively across the organization.
• Bachelor’s Degree in HR Management or equivalent work experience.
• Advanced degree and management experience preferred.
• SPHR certification preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of employment law and its application to workplace issues.
• Understanding of business parameters sufficient to incorporate business risks into recommendations.
• Strong team player with ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels across the organization.
• Facilitative/consultative approach to business interactions; coaching/mentoring skills.
• Ability to exercise considerable discretion and good judgment.
