Job Description
The Ivantage Commercial Planning and Development Director is responsible for the development of long-term strategies and plans that drive long-term growth for Ivantage commercial lines and through alternative forms of brokering/distribution.
The Ivantage Strategy and Business Development Director is responsible for the development of long-term strategies and that drive long-term growth for Ivantage and implementation of strategies & tactics to achieve business unit and corporate goals (focus on commercial lines business).
The role will utilize strong business knowledge, leadership and general management skills to coordinate and align strategic objectives through the development of effective relationships within functional areas within Ivantage, other commercial lines of business, Ivantage shared service business partners, Allstate Brand Distribution and other shared services.
This leader will be accountable for developing and maintaining a strategic roadmap and related execution plan, collaborating with leaders to prioritize new business opportunities and potential opportunities to extract more value from existing ones.
• Influences business decisions by providing analysis of key issues and trends in the commercial insurance industry, as well as their implications to Allstate commercial lines of businesses
• Maintains active dialogue with senior executives, business units and investments on key trends and risks impacting their businesses.
• Routinely makes presentations to senior management and demonstrates effective communication skills in all forms necessary for effective execution of assignments.
• Develops strategic frameworks, storylines and financial analyses to guide strategic management discussions
• Provides thought leadership and strategic analysis to cross-functional teams conducting specific strategic inquiries; including support for all corporate strategy and M&A activity
• Analyzes long-term impact of new or anticipated strategies and decisions and consider ramifications to the business
• Provides competitor research and analytics to support strategic planning
• Serves as primary strategic liaison between Ivantage and Allstate Business Insurance
• Leverages internal and external networks to more fully inform perspectives and viewpoints
• Work closely with Ivantage leaders to understand best practices, develop new solutions and implement new capabilities in alignment with Ivantage’s strategic roadmap
• Analyze diverse and complex situations to determine potential solutions and recommend actions
• Create and present business cases and influence others to adopt and prioritize a recommended course of action
• Support efforts to prioritize new business opportunities and investments
• Present partner results, learnings and subsequent strategic direction to senior leaders and relevant business units.
• Supports the development of strategic communications to key internal and external stakeholders
• Leads the monthly analysis of operating commitments and measurements for commercial line strategic initiatives
Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred
• 10+ years of demonstrated increasing responsibility in commercial insurance leadership roles, including business unit experience and superior financial acumen
• Experience in a high performance, results driven environments
• Reputation as a trusted strategic business consultant in a finance related area – build relationships with clients while offering analysis and recommending corrective actions based on emerging trends.
• Ability to quickly grasp, analyze and synthesize complex data into meaningful conclusions and recommendations
• Experience leading and managing cross-functional teams with direct and indirect line responsibility; strong relationship management skills
• Ability to manage through ambiguity, prioritizes multiple projects to meet business partner needs
• Ability to influence other resulting in conflict resolution, problem solving and alignment
• Independent thinker with a strong team mindset
• Highly organized and effective in establishing priorities
• Ability to design and establish financial goals and measures
• Ability to advocate, collaborate, and influence leaders across the enterprise
• Superior oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to develop storylines
• Superior research, financial and analytical skills
• Advanced ability to manage multiple projects and priorities given aggressive timelines; comfortable performing in a fast paced, dynamic and ambiguous business environment; also comfortable with “managing up” in the organization
