Job Description
Everest Global Services, a member of Everest Re Group, is seeking an experienced Director of Business Intelligence for their Corporate Applications division, headquartered in Liberty Corner, New Jersey.
This role will require a unique combination of skills: strong business acumen with a history of using data to solve business problems, deep analytical skills, a strategic and technical mindset as well as the ability to lead and grow development teams. In this role, you will be the subject matter expert responsible for analyzing business needs to determine the architectural framework, technology requirements, overall design and the right set of tools to fulfill the business goals.
The Director of Business Intelligence will provide the vision and leadership to the Corporate Applications Team on data strategies and sources, operational requirements, and best practice reporting and analytics capabilities. You may also troubleshoot or provide development support as needs arise. The incumbent will represent Corporate Applications in enterprise level technology and architecture discussions, and ensure that operations, development, and integrations adhere to corporate standards. S/he should be a strong leader who will establish and execute a vision to plan, deliver, and support solutions in a complex, distributed technology environment. The ideal candidate must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Analyze business requirements to design and develop optimal technical solutions using approved database and software development tools and methodologies.
• Drive pragmatic approaches to meet complex business needs through a variety of business intelligence tools. Apply the right data technique to solve the problem in an explainable manner to business partners.
• Execute advanced data analytics models with effective and practical short- and long-term actionable solutions.
• Grow the data and technical environment at Everest by bringing new technologies and techniques to create efficient process around data extraction, aggregation and analytics.
• Achieve business goals by fostering innovation and coordinating the evaluation, deployment and management of current and future solutions.
• Estimate solution cost (including tools, tasks, complexity, resources and time).
• Collaborate with clients to better understand needs and provide necessary support.
• Establish appropriate implementation methodology to successfully develop and deploy the solution.
• Provide overall technical leadership to the cross-functional team – coordinating the technical resources through the successful delivery of all project deliverables.
• Lead team on analysis, design, and coding activities to ensure successful component and project delivery. Provide technical guidance and conduct review of project deliverables to ensure quality and standard process adherence.
• Coach others and provide on-going feedback and support to improve performance. Contribute to performance evaluations, including career development plans, to encourage continuous performance improvement.
Work Experience and Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in Computer or Information Science, plus a minimum of 8-10 years of relevant work experience. - Experience in the insurance and/or financial industry experience preferred.
Experience with the following:
• Data warehouse technologies (ETL and metadata tools)
• Leading large projects that involve data and information technology
• Business Intelligence
• Ability to work with a variety of business intelligence tools and applications; Cognos TM1 preferred.
• Experience with conceptual, logical and physical data modeling.
• Knowledge and understanding of business requirement analysis and design documentation of data and system architectures.
• Highly developed analytical, problem-solving, and consulting skills, with a proven track record of achieving business results using data driven solutions.
• Ability to interact and influence across all organizational levels on technical or business solutions.
• Experience in validating an overall solution from the perspective of performance, scalability, security and capacity.
• Experience with Agile development methodology and leading teams within a complex environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
