Application Portfolio Management Director
Job Summary:
This role will lead Application Portfolio Rationalization (APR) planning activities in support of a major technology modernization program, establish the practices required for sustaining the Application Portfolio Management discipline and interface with business transformation programs to drive the continuous update and adoption of the Portfolio Rationalization plan.
Major Responsibilities
Application Rationalization Framework
• Develop, improve and maintain the framework for Application Rationalization consisting of prioritization, cost, financial and sizing models
APR Roadmap Management
• Develop the Application Portfolio Rationalization(APR) Roadmap in collaboration with Application Managers, Business Owners, Technology Product Managers, Enterprise Architects, Finance, Business Executives and Technology Executives
• Validate the Roadmap gathering inputs from Enterprise Information Security, Sourcing, Contracts, Risk Management and Lines of Defense
• Define initiatives for applications and align funding requests to appropriations cycles
• Track, assess and recommend changes to course correct deviations to the roadmap
• Define, track and manage external Program and Project dependencies
• Monitor and report progress on roadmap initiatives to IT Governance and the transformation program office
• Manage revisions to the APR framework and roadmap and realign to changes in Business Strategies
• Maintain the Integrity and currency of the APR roadmap and supporting information
APR Governance
• Define roadmap governance procedures and engage appropriate individuals for decision making
• Identify and track APR Roadmap change requests and potential impacts to scope, business case and plan
• Schedule and conduct roadmap governance sessions and communicate change
Communications
• Influence and partner with Application Portfolio Managers, Application Business Owners and executives to accelerate adoption
• Conduct and perform stakeholder communications related to target state, scope, schedule, prioritization and status
Longer term responsibilities include:
• Development of organizational practices and processes to sustain the APR process in alignment with the Technology and Project Portfolio planning processes
• Renewing the APR Roadmap aligning with business strategies and transformation programs
• Maturing the application portfolio planning processes
Qualifications
• Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in Application and Technology Management, Program Management and Enterprise Architecture
• Significant experience in at least 3 of the following areas:
Application Portfolio Rationalization program leadership
Enterprise Application, System, and/or Technology Portfolio Planning
Managing multiple Applications and/or a team of Application Managers
Managing Application migrations and transformations
Cloud Migrations and Cloud Strategy implementations
• Minimum 10 years of experience with Technology Program Management across multiple Projects and implementations
• Proven ability executing high-profile projects and providing thought leadership
• Demonstrated ability to plan and execute highly visible, cross business initiatives
• Ability to influence non-technical aspects of technology change
• Strong verbal presentation and written communication skills
• Influential leadership experience with the ability to partner, energize, and inspire
• Prior Management Consulting experience preferred
