Department Profile
Client Reporting Operations team is responsible for assuring that firms Wealth Management clients are supplied with an industry leading document which is matching or exceeding regulatory requirements and providing most desired information in a clear and useful format. The team cooperates with multiple stakeholders to continuously refine our offering while focusing on risk avoidance and reducing exposure to our clients and the firm.
Background on the Position
Morgan Stanley Wealth Management Operations is recruiting a Vice President for the Client Statements team. VP will interface with business partners within and outside of Client Reporting, Operations, Technology, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Vendor Management, and directly with vendor partners to assure accuracy, timeliness of hard copy and e-delivery distribution and implement enhancements.
As employee development is a crucial part of Morgan Stanley culture, the VP will be responsible to lead the team and foster cooperation, growth and career development of direct reports, while ensuring that risk is minimized and client satisfaction is high. The VP will help identify and define change opportunities and oversee multiple projects simultaneously from beginning to end. S/he will act as a subject matter expert for Statement Operations and aim to create efficiencies, improve controls and enhance client experience while focusing on risk reduction. S/he will critically assess existing processes and propose well thought out improvements. The VP will also field inquiries and escalations from senior management, the service center, business partners, and branches.
Primary Responsibilities
• Manage a team of resources responsible for various aspects of client reporting for Wealth Management.
• Analyze metrics reporting, assure relevance and adjust as needed. React to trends and modify processes accordingly.
• Ensure oversight and cooperation with vendors for production of output.
• Work in concert with vendors to oversee the external change process.
• Actively participate in all phases of the technology change process. From idea/enhancement generation through business requirement development, testing strategy, test script development, coordination of involvement in testing by impacted Operations team, into the team test execution and post production review.
• Coordinate of the quality assurance process. In addition to managing testing done by the team, it includes cooperation with all Operations teams involved during the preliminary and month-end review process.
• Continuously improve processes, reduce risk, and process streamlining.
• Involvement in internal and external audits, Compliance and Risk reviews.
• Handling of field office inquiries directed to us by phone, inquiry tracking system or email.
Qualifications
Requirements
• Bachelor in economics, accounting, finance, or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in a related field at a large financial institution or a top consulting firm.
• Excellent people manager displaying a collaborative work style and commitment to getting the job done.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities and vision in managing projects or initiatives.
• Ability to build and maintain cooperative networks and relationships across the organization.
• Superior analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively on multiple projects under tight deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal as well as verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to influence a broad group of Operations and Business Managers as well as non- managers.
• Excels at operating in a fast pace, community environment while being adept at changing focus quickly to competing priorities.
• Knowledge of financial services industry products, processes and best practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Skills/Experience
• Experience interacting with internal and external auditors, Legal and Compliance teams.
• Series 99 or 7 license.
