Job Title: Principal – Blackstone Strategic Capital Group Strategic Support
Job Description:
Blackstone Strategic Capital Group (BSCG) Strategic Support Principal will act as an extension of Blackstone’s Purchasing Platform within BAAM, bringing resources, insights, and connections to companies existing in the BSCG ecosystem in order to drive value and create stronger relationships. Blackstone’s Purchasing Platform provides access to global procurement tools, buying power across Blackstone’s investments, and a network of procurement professionals to enhance the procurement process and drive better pricing, terms and customer service with suppliers.
Responsibilities:
The Principal will be responsible for supporting and implementing key initiatives across Blackstone Strategic Capital Group, focusing on the Purchasing Platform. The Principal will interface with the BAAM investment teams, the portfolio companies of the funds in which BSCG invest, and strategic supplier partners. The Principal will foster and maintain relationships with portfolio company C-Suite management and operational teams to drive savings and operational improvement projects and cultivate a network and community across portfolio companies. This requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, detailed project management skills, strong analytical skills, and general business knowledge. Travel will be required on an as‐needed basis.
Responsibilities may include:
• Provide analysis and on‐site support for key initiatives across the portfolio including the group purchasing organization (GPO) and other functional initiatives as needed. Includes extensive use of Salesforce to manage GPO projects and portfolio company contacts across all companies.
• Support expansion of new categories globally. Current scope includes 75+ categories across portfolio companies.
• Liaise with BSCG deal team members and portfolio company executives to ensure high quality reporting and analysis of performance across the portfolio.
Qualifications: Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intelligent and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. In addition to strong interpersonal and analytical skills, he/she will have 10-15 years’ work experience in procurement, supply chain, or a consulting firm, ideally supporting operational improvement initiatives and working with clients. Prior experience with eSourcing solutions and mid-market private equity firms a plus.
