Capacity Strategic Planning Manager
Role Summary
The Capacity Strategic Planning Manager will work both strategically and tactically with the Head of Resource Management Office in Technology, Human Resources, the Strategy and Planning team, and Business Relationship Managers/Portfolio Managers to drive strategic workforce capacity planning activities across Technology. The Capacity Strategic Planning Manager will support initiatives related to labor resource capacity forecasting, management and enablement of strategic project delivery. The Capacity Strategic Planning Manager’s responsibilities include the execution and delivery of both day-to-day priorities and longer term strategic goals and projects.
Key Responsibilities:
• Understands the business strategy and the technology capabilities (People, Process, Technologies) needed to achieve the business goals.
• Drive data analysis and related activities providing insights into the data around internal and external labor capacity that will allow leadership to run the business of technology and determine Technology’s ability to deliver to the business.
• Provide industry benchmarks and data driven recommendations around optimal Tech organization size, make up of internal and external labor and role mix to achieve strategic goals.
• Anticipate changes in roles and skills needs aligned with strategic direction and develop plans that enable Technology to have the right resources at the right time.
• Work with Strategy and Planning Data Analysts to ensure standards for reporting are maintained within the Line of Business aligned technology group.
• Partners with finance, HR and business stakeholders to design, test, and deploy a metrics-driven capacity planning model for Technology; present final recommendations and working model to executive committee.
• Maintain and assist with development of annual and multi-year labor / resource Capacity Management Plan.
• Collaborate with others to solve complex problems; uses sophisticated analytical thought and education and/or equivalent experience to exercise judgment and identify innovative solutions; taking a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
• Drive creation and delivery of leadership presentations.
• Support ad hoc reporting and analysis needs.
Education / Training
• Bachelor's degree with relevant experience required
• Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP), Program Management Professional (PfMP), Project Management Professional (PMP) or Agile Certified Practitioner certification
Required Skills / Knowledge:
• Strong business orientation with the competency in dealing with all levels of employees / management and builds strong relationships with teams and all organizational customers
• Significant experience with, and strong understanding of, demand and capacity management as well as portfolio and financial management methodologies, tools and techniques
• Understanding of the Technology Delivery Life Cycle (TDLC), including Agile development methodology
• Strong process orientation with the ability to create and institutionalize robust, efficient, and repeatable practices, tools and support processes.
• Familiarity with all IT functions and services
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to create and deliver content to Senior Leadership
• Ability to manage demand from multiple clients, meet deadlines and be accountable for results
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications with demonstrated ability to build and deliver executive level presentations and analysis
• Demonstrates proactive ability to identify problems, understand business impact, identify solutions and provide recommendations for corrective action
• Strong follow-up skills and attention to detail and superior organization skills
• Must be a team player with ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment
• Self-starter who completes work with a limited degree of supervision, establishes priorities
Previous Experience:
• 8+ years’ experience with strategic and operational planning, Portfolio Management, Resource Management
• 8+ years of Business Relationship and Project Management experience within the Financial Services Industry
• Demonstrated experience with capacity and / or labor management
