Position Summary
Reports to the Trust Investment Manager. Responsible for designing, modifying and managing customized large accounts (minimum value $500,000, average value over $900,000) for high net worth clients, performing due diligence that leads to recommendations for Trust Investment Committee to add to/delete from Approved Securities List. Requires direct communications with First Command advisor, their clients, First Command senior leadership, external consultants and securities companies.
Responsibilities
Compliance
1. Maintain current knowledge of banking and investment industry regulations, as well as applicable First Command Bank, First Command Financial Services and departmental policies and procedures, to ensure ongoing compliance by Wealth Management & Trust Services;
2. Complete all mandatory compliance training; and
3. Monitor/manage assigned investment accounts to include initial account reviews, annual reviews, account rebalancing and performance monitoring.
Internal and External Communication
1. Communicate in person, in writing, electronically and by telephone with high net worth clients and prospective clients, as well as advisors and field staff, regarding the ongoing/future administration and investment of estate, trust, agency and investment managements accounts; and
2. Conduct conference calls with field advisors, their staff and current/prospective IMA clients to provide feedback on client account performance, investment decisions and market conditions/trends.
Portfolio Management and Investment Responsibilities
1. Manage investment portfolios for hundreds of unique, individualized account portfolios with an average account value of approximately $900,000. Management includes:
• Make daily buy/sell decisions for mutual funds, individual stocks, exchange traded funds and individual bonds;
• Work with external consultants to analyze investment options and develop laddered bond portfolios for IMA clients; and
• Independently review assigned accounts for quality and rebalancing with necessary interaction with advisors and clients to ensure accounts are maintained in accordance with the Investment Management Agreement.
Constantly field advisor/client calls regarding portfolio questions, investment market questions, and suitability of IMAs for clients;
Develop, write and often present, via conference call, detailed, client-specific written IMA proposals;
Monitor potential IMA accounts from initial inquiry through implementation;
Maintain current knowledge of trends in equity and fixed income markets, and other investment-related issues with ability to communicate often complex topics to advisors and IMA clients; integrate n in the development of client portfolios;
Perform investigative due diligence of corporate stocks, mutual funds and their managers, and ETFs to evaluate and make recommendations of potential additions to the Approved Securities List which includes individual stocks, mutual funds and exchange-traded funds; review currently approved securities for their continued use or deletion as an approved security; and
Research approved securities which have moved to the “watch” list and make recommendations for approval by the Trust Investment Committee.
Committees
1. Prepare and present reports to the Trust Administrative and/or Investment Committees and Board of Directors, as requested.
Other Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement recommendations for process improvements;
2. Review and make recommendations for changes to Wealth Management & Trust Services investment policies;
3. Market trust and investment management services to advisors and prospective clients via conference calls, webinars or in person, as needed;
4. Seek out training, resources and professional groups that enhance the knowledge of tools/techniques required of the position; and
5. Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the Manager of the Wealth Management group or the Trust Investment Manager.
Education
• 4-year college degree required with preference for business or related degree
Work Experience
• 5+ years related banking or financial services industry experience required
• Financial services industry customer service experience required
Certifications & Licenses
• CFP® or ChFC preferred
• Series 63 and 65, or Series 66, required, or must be acquired within 90 days of hire
• Series 7 required, or must be acquired within 90 days of hire
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Strong ability to use, and familiarity with, all components of Microsoft Office
• Demonstrated success in developing and executing systematic processes to complete projects
• Current working knowledge of investment products
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills required, with the ability to communicate complex concepts in simple terms
• Ability to compassionately handle client and advisor issues
• High level of problem-solving, mathematical, statistical and analytical skills
• Must be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills and work effectively under pressure
• Must be able to handle frequent interruptions throughout the day, addressing co-worker, advisor, employee and client needs, and still be able to accomplish necessary responsibilities
• Ability to use standard technology commonly found in an office environment
• Ability to travel, as needed, to attend workshops/conferences or meet with clients/advisors
• Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities

• Ability to follow procedures and convey them to others
• Ability to maintain client confidentiality
• Working knowledge of trust accounting systems and methods a plus
