Experian Automotive’s Technology team is seeking an experienced Scrum Master/Agile Project Manager. You will act as a servant leader and be responsible for coaching and mentoring a software development team with the goal of leading them to become a self-directed, high-performing team. This position is responsible for facilitating all scrum ceremonies, coaching and mentoring members, helping the Product Owner manage the backlog and release planning. Other responsibilities include project management of complex client deliverables.
Job Responsibilities:
• Responsible for driving effective scrum ceremonies including daily scrum, backlog grooming, Sprint planning, showcases and retrospectives.
• Responsible for tracking and distributing relevant metrics and reports periodically to show team progress and velocity.
• Coach and lead a team toward stable velocity, successfully meeting commitments/target dates and a healthy team dynamic utilizing available metrics to determine opportunities and drive action.
• Identify and remove roadblocks from the team’s path to ensure productivity.
• Work closely with Product Owner to manage team priorities and scope each sprint.
• Create and manage project plans, timelines and milestones across one or more teams.
• Document, coordinate and manage cross-team dependencies.
• Provide thorough status updates/reports on your team’s sprint and/or project accomplishments in real-time to leadership and other key stakeholders.
• Escalate risks, roadblocks or issues to leadership in a timely fashion.
• Present team/project status, metrics, risks or concerns to stakeholders at all levels of the organization with confidence and clarity, verbally and in writing.
• Support and educate the Product Owner, especially with respect to refining (aka grooming) and managing the product backlog; help Product Owner to manage customer expectations and stakeholder communications.
• Protect the team from external requests and interruptions by filtering all requests and pushing back on non-priority items.
• Maximize the use of technology to encourage close collaboration of distributed (onshore and offshore) teams of product owners and developers to resource, define, and schedule activities required to develop and launch new features.
• Assess the Agile Maturity of the Scrum team and organization to coach the team to higher levels of maturity at a pace that is sustainable for the team and organization.
• Help build a safe and trusting team environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or judgement, with an emphasis on problem solving.
• Coach and provide feedback to individual team members and stakeholders on Agile best practices and areas of opportunity.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Demonstrated experience with widely successful agile practices: Scrum, Scaled Agile Framework, Kanban etc.
• Skilled in servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
• Must possess and utilize exceptional communication skills to keep teams operating at maximum efficiency while also insuring senior leaders and executive management are informed of progress always.
• Demonstrated ability to build, develop, and coach high performing software development teams.
• Experience applying a wide variety of well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.).
• Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment and work on multiple priorities and/or projects simultaneously without impact to quality of work.
• Experience being on multiple Scrum teams in a variety of different contexts (different team sizes, different organizations, different cultures, co-located vs. distributed, etc.)
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with external vendors and internal partners.
• Demonstrated strength in problem definition and resolution.
• Moderate to expert-level knowledge of Jira Agile or other agile tools to measure team productivity and report metrics.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year university required, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering or similar field.
• One or more related certifications such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), Project Management Professional (PMP), PMI-Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP).
• Strong and demonstrated experience using the fundamentals of Agile development.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex, technical projects.
• Ability to interact professionally and confidently with colleagues at all levels, including senior and executive management.
• Articulate, clear and confident communication and presentation skills.
• 5+ yrs. of ScrumMaster/technical project management experience in a software development environment.
