This role requires an individual who is professional and who displays the drive, determination, and self-motivation to maintain a client base. The individual will provide professional, courteous account management and broker services to assigned clients, having the primary responsibility for account retention. The Senior Account Manager will work alongside a Producer to service and maintain existing accounts while uncovering opportunities for increasing business.
Responsibilities
• Manages a book of insurance business, while acting with a high degree of independent discretion, autonomy, and decision-making.
• Provides professional, courteous service to our clients, carrier representatives, underwriters, business partners, and HUB colleagues, resulting in a rate of account retention that meets or exceeds expectations.
• Establishes and maintain strong and productive professional relationships with decision makers for assigned HUB clients.
• Possesses a detailed knowledge of the client’s business and industry.
• Possesses a mastery of the various HUB resources and tools employing same to best serve assigned clients. Articulates strategies to clients on: cost management, benefits technology, compliance, employee communication and engagement, health and performance, and HR advocacy.
• Understands clients’ insurance objectives and critically analyzes and compares insurance plans to determine suitability. Stays abreast of changes in the insurance industry and other external conditions that may impact their clients. Makes appropriate recommendations to clients in response to those changes independently.
• Possesses a strong ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, which will include the ability to design and deliver effective group presentations using various media. This may range from conducting an employee meeting to a sales or renewal presentation at a client’s office.
• Manage, organize, and conducts client meetings. Set up, prepare for and attend meetings – ensuring producer is informed. Meetings may be independent of producer attendance.
• Establish and maintain strong and productive professional relationships with insurance carrier and other vendor marketing, and underwriting staff, including a detailed familiarity with each vendor’s products and services in support of assigned clients. Stays abreast of changes in the insurance industry and other external conditions that may impact our customers.
• Be actively involved with professional and/or civic associations on behalf of HUB.
• Provides a high level of support to Producers in obtaining, maintaining, and expanding business. Ensure Producer is fully informed about and prepared for all client meetings and interfaces so as to be able to competently and proactively manage the client relationship
• Oversees the preparation and implementation of all transactions, paperwork, and internal processing for assigned accounts
• Acts as liaison between clients and insurance carriers to resolve escalated complex service issues that require policy interpretation and experience based judgment to resolve claims and billing issues.
• Develops new business from existing accounts and assigned leads and contributes to meeting departmental production goals. Identifies and follows-up on cross-selling opportunities when appropriate.
• Act as liaison for the department for a carrier, vendor, or HUB resource. Those duties include: Develop initiatives, marketing materials and other tools required to successfully implement and manage project; Act as conduit, trainer, and resource to other HUB staff; participate in monthly staff meetings; update HUB leadership on ongoing activities that support and drive organic growth, retention, and profitability.
• Appropriately documents conversations with clients and carrier representatives and updates all HUB computer systems and automated agency management systems when necessary. Ensures the accuracy of data in those systems.
• Knowledgeable about and comply with HUB systems, procedures and state/federal insurance regulations.
• Travels on company business as required.
• Prepares reports for management as required.
• Supports, mentors, and trains staff, as necessary.
• Pursue a program for personal and professional development, attending industry related continuing education training and courses.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned, including general clerical support.
Qualifications
• BA or BS degree preferred
• A NM Life & Health insurance license
• At least 7 years of experience servicing large Employee Benefit accounts
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and PowerPoint programs
• High energy, detail-oriented self-starter
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills
• Significant skill in handling competing demands and projects
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and delegate responsibility
• Willingness to travel
