JOB PURPOSE
As the senior risk analyst, you will measure, monitor and report risk associated with corporate credit, senior bank loans and CLO assets, employing available systems, tools and technology. You will communicate to the broader investment management platform the risks and trends in corporate credit, bank loan and CLO markets. You will also serve as a key contributor to the team responsible for fixed income risk management of both the proprietary and external fixed-income investment portfolios.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Actively participate in a variety of risk management activities and initiatives to engage the investors in a combination of risk mitigation efforts and optimization of risk/return trade-offs
• Gain a solid understanding of the investors’ alpha-generating strategies. Provide well-supported, understandable, and practical information to the investors to help them manage better portfolios and produce superior returns
• Produce a suite of risk monitoring reports on a periodic basis and discuss findings with asset managers and senior members of the risk team
• Monitor changes in credit ratings (upgrades and downgrades), credit spreads, loss rates and recovery prospects
• Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis and interpret results in terms of potential portfolio rebalancing / hedging
• Perform validation of internal models
• Monitor seed capital portfolio and recommend hedging strategies to optimize the invested capital
• Serve as a partner with investors, providing tools and analysis to enhance risk management of fixed income asset classes
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree with a major or subject focus on finance, economics or accounting required
• MBA or Masters in Quantitative Finance discipline strongly preferred
• CFA or FRM designation or a progress towards either one strongly preferred
• Five to seven years of experience in either fixed income trading, risk management or portfolio management required
• Experience working with senior bank loans, CLOs or other structured products strongly preferred
• Experience and proficiency with Blackrock Aladdin, Intex, MS SQL, Excel VBA and Bloomberg strongly preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills required
• Strong planning and organization skills required
• Self-starter with demonstrated ability to work independently
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Some travel may be required
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• The risk analyst should use quantitative methods to understand the risks in the portfolios while also applying judgment to the interpretation of results and a qualitative understanding of how markets work
• This role is based in Scottsdale, AZ. However, you will be expected to work from the Atlanta office for the first few months to gain familiarity with the Atlanta team and institutional practices
