Job Description
Baird’s Equity Asset Management business is seeing strong growth with assets under management climbing to $4.5B from $1B in the past few years. Baird Equity AM growth is expected to continue given the addition of new products, new teams and an increased distribution platform. Today, the business offers a Specialized Asset Management service to high net worth investors and six institutional products – Mid Cap Growth, Small Cap Value, SMID Value, Large Cap Core, International and Global. Each of Baird Equity AM offerings has sizable capacity from current levels. Within Baird Equity Asset Management the Specialized Asset Management (SAM) team manages multi asset class portfolios designed exclusively for Baird’s high-net-worth clients. The SAM team has seen rapid growth from increased adoption by Baird’s financial advisors and currently manages $1B in client assets.
The Specialized Asset Management team is seeking a high-performing entrepreneurial individual to play an integral role in this rapidly growing product. The Research Analyst role is responsible for fundamental research large capitalization companies that fit the team’s high-quality growth investment style. Based on research, industry trends and market environment, the Analyst will make specific company buy and sell recommendations to SAM portfolio managers to assist in the overall portfolio strategy and client approach. This is a newly created research role dedicated to the SAM team which offers an opportunity to build a career within Baird Equity Asset Management.
As an Asset Management Research Analyst, you will:
• Provide qualitative and quantitative industry and company specific research, including the preparation of financial models, written reports, presentations and field research for SAM portfolio managers
• Conduct company visits and attend third party research conferences that cover existing and recommended holdings. Key output will include written summaries and rigorous team discussion on resulting investment recommendations
• Review third party research, earnings estimates and company filings. Inform portfolio managers of events that may affect industry or specific holdings

What we look for:
• Bachelor’s degree and in Finance or related field combined with 2 - 5 years of investment industry experience with strong knowledge of asset management and passion for the industry
• Progress toward CFA designation with expectation to complete within a designated time. Series 7 & 66 licensed or ability to obtain in 6 months
• Solid investment knowledge and experience as well as the demonstrated ability to discuss industry sectors and stocks with a high level of detail and insight
• Advanced skills of MS Office, specifically Excel. Experience working with financial software like FactSet or Bloomberg preferred
• Excellent analytical and quantitative skills
• Strong communication skills with the ability to take complex capital markets and product information, as well as company and industry research and distill down to key points. Willingness to interface with Portfolio Managers on a regular basis
• Team player with understanding of an entrepreneurial environment, including the necessary sense of urgency to move the business forward
• Ability and willingness to develop relationships with key personnel to promote Baird Equity Asset Management and Specialized Asset Management
