JOB FUNCTION / SUMMARY:
The Fixed Income Analyst performs high level credit risk analysis on public issuers of corporate bonds in support of fixed income portfolio management activities and support trade preparation and execution under supervision of senior portfolio managers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs high level financial analysis of corporate bonds in support of security selection efforts.
• Development of income, expense and earnings models in support of valuation appraisals.
• Assess leverage risk, default risk, event risk and spread volatility in support of security selection efforts and portfolio risk control.
• Assist as appropriate in management of security selection models and platforms.
• Assist portfolio managers and traders in identifying spread anomalies among approved issuers and developing tactical trading strategies.
• Manages and maintains a database of approved issuers and recommend migrations of issuers between approved, hold and sell status.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:
• Required: BA/BBA in Economics, Statistics or Finance/Accounting
• MBA Preferred
• 5 years of experience in securities analysis and financial modeling
• Preferred: CFA designation or CFA Candidate
• Proficiency in high level securities analysis and development of pro forma revenue and earnings models.
• Experience with market information systems and data base management.
• Capacity to contribute to portfolio strategies and development of security selection idea generation.
ESSENTIAL MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
• Ability to operate related equipment to perform the essential job functions
• Ability to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential job functions
• Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions
• Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 10 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department/division an “undue hardship” then the employee must be accommodated; hence omitting lifting/moving/carrying as a physical requirement.
