What does a great Technical Writer at Fiserv do?
As a member of our Technical Communications team, you will enjoy working in a high-responsibility environment where you bring to bear your leadership and critical thinking skills, as well as your passion for learning and exploring new technologies, to communicate complex information … clearly, concisely and accurately.
Reporting directly to the Manager of Technical Communications, you will join a team of writers who are responsible for producing usage instructions and procedures in support of the many financial advice management, portfolio management and trading, and performance and investor reporting products and technologies we offer to the wealth management industry.
During a typical release cycle, you will manage your deadlines with release schedules, interviewing SMEs to clarify development impact on the end-user, and partnering with internal audiences to better understand their processes. Your role involves the creation of end-user assistance and product usage communications, installation, setup and configuration instructions, release notifications, and developer guidelines. Your materials are delivered via online and “print” (i.e., PDF) formats; as full guides or data snippets.
Within the team, you will partner with other writers to create and implement processes and standards, mentor junior writers, and develop/maintain various repositories (e.g., team content management system, client support library, and internal SharePoint sites).
What are some of the responsibilities of this role?
• Follow Product Owner Team and Delivery Team in sprint activities; propose and produce materials for support teams and clients.
• Analyze, interpret, and extract information from complex development team technical and functional requirements, features and stories.
• Design, upload, and manage content on the various team repositories (version control).
• Produce support artifacts for internal associates and clients, such as: Online Help, Install/Set Up Procedures, Client Admin Procedures, User Provisioning, Release Notifications, API & Developer Instructions, Infrastructure Manuals, and User Manuals.

What are the qualifications we require or prefer that you have for consideration?
• Bachelor's Degree in Technical Communications, Computer Science, Communications, English, or related disciplines required. Equivalent experience considered for a degree in the above concentrations
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience required, preferably as a technical writer within the information technology industry (i.e., software product development)
• Experience or working knowledge of Madcap Flare is a huge plus (if no Flare, then Adobe Robohelp may be substituted)
• Wealth management/financial services industry experience preferred
• Strong writing and communication skills required
• Experience writing technical and end-user support materials for print and online media highly preferred
• Experience authoring and deploying an online help system preferred
• Excellent sense of design, workflow, and content layout required
• Familiarity with graphic design, UX, web design and CSS concepts preferred
• Advanced organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines required
• Experience using or familiarity with source control (TFS/GIT) required
• Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat are pluses
• Experience using SnagIt, Camtasia, and Captivate preferred
• Tech savvy - willing and comfortable learning new technologies
