We are looking for bright, intellectually curious and self-directed individuals for a three-year opportunity in our Los Angeles office as a member of the Investment Group Information Resources (IGIR) team. We look for diverse students from a variety of majors who are passionate about investments. Students selected for our program have the opportunity to be part of a team that sincerely cares about helping them succeed, while also working on challenging projects that have real impacts on the business.
IGIR Associates will work with Investment Analysts and Portfolio Managers in the equity and fixed income investment groups – in an environment that fosters robust research, independent thinking, and diverse points of view. You will gain a firsthand perspective on how to analyze companies and investment portfolios. Our three-year program will develop your technical and professional skills while sponsoring your participation in the CFA program. Successful graduates from our program will be eligible for roles within investment research and quantitative analytics at Capital Group.
Role Responsibilties:
• Learn to build company financial models and understand what operating and financial metrics are key to evaluating a company as a long term investment.
• Learn how to construct and analyze stock valuation tools.
• Develop technical skills on Bloomberg and other market data service providers.
• Develop relationships with analysts by working on research projects, analyzing industry trends, and macro issues relevant to investment decisions.
• By regularly joining investment meetings and synthesizing investment recommendations, you will gain insights on how to make effective investment recommendations and learn what portfolio managers consider important.
Qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree with a graduation date of December 2018 or May/June 2019.
• Demonstrates academic achievement, intellectual curiosity and analytical skills in areas of high complexity.
• An interest in investments and financial analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate, develop, and manage relationships inside and outside the organization to enable effective completion of business objectives.
