The Senior Financial Writer is a member of Capital Group’s broader Marketing team and will collaborate with our sales, product and broader marketing teams to create content promoting our investment strategies in defined contribution (DC) plans, including our equity, fixed income and target date funds. As a Senior Financial Writer based in Los Angeles, you will develop and leverage product insights to create persuasive, sophisticated and informative content that promotes our investment offerings and advances Capital Group’s reputation as the asset manager of choice in DC plan. This sales-oriented content should appeal to more sophisticated audiences, including larger retirement plan advisors, consultants and plan sponsors.
Responsibilities:
• Develop a firm understanding of our DC funds’ investment philosophy, competitive positioning and value proposition.
• Work with stakeholders to understand audience and business insights, and to follow strategic direction, key objectives and themes for content.
• Use that understanding to develop compelling content across print and digital channels – from more in-depth thought leadership white papers, to shorter articles, catchy headlines, presentations, and engaging social media posts – with the aim of boosting sales.
• Partner with Capital’s subject-matter experts to create sophisticated content supported by data and analytics.
• Creatively collaborate with visual and UX designers to create insightful images, charts and online experiences.
• Leverages accessible concepts - using clear language that can appeal at an intellectual and emotional level.
• Work with multiple stakeholders to reconcile different streams of opinions and philosophies into a coherent narrative & core message that can be leveraged in multiple ways.
Qualifications:
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in the financial services industry with solid understanding of financial markets and mutual fund products.
• A portfolio of editorial content that exemplifies superb writing skills and an ability to develop creative solutions, from succinct promotional copy to long-form articles or reports.

◦ Contains sales-oriented material appealing to more sophisticated audiences.
• Ability to translate complex ideas into compelling, audience-appropriate communications.
• Strong attention to detail and a capacity to critically evaluate and stress-test arguments and data exhibits.
• Strong research skills to learn and develop concepts independently
• Excellent project management and organizational abilities; ability to work independently and manage multiple projects at one time while meeting rigorous deadlines.
• The ability to gather, understand and manipulate data in Excel to create charts and tables for communications.
• Experience with PowerPoint and/or Morningstar Direct is a plus.
• Ad copy-writing experience also a plus.
• A bachelor’s degree required; emphasis on journalism, marketing, economics or related field preferred.
