This is a key managerial role within the Discover Personal Loan Risk Management team with specific responsibility for driving forward the businesss portfolio credit risk management strategies and policies. The role offers a significant and challenging environment for the right person to apply existing skills in a creative manner whilst also providing a unique opportunity to further develop business and management capabilities. A well rounded risk manager is sought with a high level of proven experience within a large scale account management environment.-Initiate, develop and implement credit risk criteria for Discover personal loan applications across a range of segments and products establishing appropriate profitability trade offs using various tools to maximize business return on the business exposure ensuring that key business factors are understood and measured e.g. impact on origination, revenue and risk.-Initiate, develop and implement credit risk criteria for retention activities across a range of segments and products establishing appropriate profitability trade offs using various tools to maximize business return on the business exposure ensuring that key business factors are understood and measured e.g. impact on attrition, revenue and risk.-Initiate, develop and implement portfolio life-cycle credit loss tracking and projection -Create and run an effective range of segmentation, champion/challenger programs in a fully controlled environment.-Establish and maintain effective strategy performance tracking ensuring that strategies are performing as expected and feeding back learnings into strategy and / or policy changes in a timely manner.-Development and implementation of a comprehensive range of account management policies consistent with achievement of defined business objectives.-Identify and make enhancements to the businesss use of internal and external data sources within account management processes.-Initiate, sponsor development and implementation of account management models as part of portfolio strategies.-Role holder will be a key individual within the consumer lending management team and will be expected to actively contribute to the overall running of the department helping to shape and deliver on overall goals and objectives.-Build and maintain effective relationships with business functions particularly marketing-Promote a risk-aware culture, ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes. Skills:
Responsibilities Operate as a subject matter expert on Discover Personal Loans portfolio Develop and maintain portfolio life-cycle credit loss tracking and projection Develop and maintain credit risk policy for Discover Personal Loans, including list selection and underwriting risk criteria and procedures Proactively monitor acquisition and performance metrics, regularly conduct customer behavior analysis / portfolio diagnostics, and advise management of trends and recommend applicable actions / corrective solutions Support acquisition system testing and acquisition-related ad hoc projectsRequirements Minimum four years professional experience within credit card, consumer lending or financial services industry. Strong knowledge of industry practices and performance measurements. Extensive working knowledge of SAS and SQL. Demonstrated project management skills, including ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and follow through on completion of complex, high-profile projects. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization. Ability to work well with minimal direction. Demonstrated problem solving, decision making, and leadership skills required.
