Overview of the Role
Responsible for providing portfolio managers with relevant information and recommendations regarding investment attractiveness of equities and other securities in the Contrarian strategy. Associate Analyst conducts deep fundamental analysis of individual companies, focusing on factors such as: financial performance, competitive industry dynamics, technological innovation, quality of company management, etc. Analyst will develop detailed financial models, including revenue/profit estimates, free cash flow projections, projected returns on capital, etc. Associate Analyst will be expected to project long-term values of stocks under coverage using discounted cash flow methodologies and make buy and sell recommendations.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Equity Research Associate Analyst role to support Contrarian strategy.
• Responsible for conducting deep fundamental company/industry research and covering stocks that fit the Contrarian strategy mandate.
• Responsible for building financial models.
• Responsible for presenting new investment ideas and making stock recommendations.
• Participates in sector team meetings, company management meetings, and general investment team meetings; ability to host meetings with senior executives of publicly traded companies.
• Forecasts growth, evaluates competitive position, determines quality of financial statement information, and analyzes potential responses to worst case scenarios.
• Synthesizes fundamental research to form a differentiated view on companies.
• Strong communication skills – Communicates articulately, concisely and persuasively.
• Constructs comprehensive valuation analyses.
• Drafts reports/notes on relevant investment themes and breaking news events
• Partner closely with portfolio managers, a key cultural tenet of the organization.

Technical Skills and Qualifications
• MBA degree with up to 2 years post MBA experience, or four year undergrad degree and 2+ years of financial analyst experience in investment management, private equity, or investment banking.
• Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and strong analytical skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
• Demonstrates ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Strong interest in the stock market and/or personal investment experience.
• Background in equity research, technology, private equity, investment banking or consulting preferred.
• Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Understanding of corporate finance, accounting, and experience with MS Word, Excel and research on the internet.
• Ability to multi-task, organize, and assimilate large amounts of information quickly.
• Progress toward a CFA a plus.
Ongoing competence in the role to be assessed by:
• Annual Performance Appraisal
• Completion of all assigned Compliance training

• Overtime may be required on short notice and may include evening, weekend, holiday hours
