Operational Research Analyst Sr to Lead
As an Operations Research Analyst in the Claims Control group you will have the chance to impact optimal staffing decisions within Progressive’s Claims Organization. The position is responsible for leading strategic projects that improve operational efficiency, providing “what if” analysis on allocating resources in Claims and creating resource plans to support Progressive’s growth, profitability, and utilization initiatives.
Using your operations research background, you will have the ability to apply mathematical modeling expertise to the following: creating actionable analytics that informs and educates decision makers, create solutions that balance operational costs with desired business outcomes, and use quantitative methods to see new options. Given the complexity inherent in allocating resources across each of the zones in Claims, this position is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate pragmatic decision-making, creativity, and collaboration with groups throughout the Claims organization.
Must have qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Operations Research, Management Science, Statistics, Industrial Engineering or Computer Science.
• At least 5 years business experience with demonstrated business impact in Operations Research or related discipline through the application of optimization models.
What we also look for
• Experience designing and implementing optimization models and leveraging such models to influence strategic and tactical business decision making.
• Strong quantitative skills to interpret data and the ability to analyze problems using various mathematical techniques.
• Excellent data-related programming skills such as C++, Visual Basic, SAS, SQL, R or MATLAB.
• Knowledge of the following: optimization including linear programming, mixed integer programming, network modeling and simulation modeling.
• Data driven decision making, sound business judgment through strong analytical thinking.
• Thorough understanding of business processes and systems knowledge.
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and business people at all levels of the organization.
• Ability to work independently and on team assignments.
