The Head of Retail Advice Marketing will align to this mission by leading all business to consumer advice (Personal Advisor Services) marketing.
The Head of Retail Advice Marketing will lead growth efforts across all channels, work closely with senior leaders across various Vanguard business units and will develop go-to-market marketing strategies for new retail advice offers and updates to the Personal Advisor Services (PAS) value proposition. This person will also lead marketing efforts to grow relationships with, and improve the experience for existing PAS clients. This role offers a great opportunity to lead the marketing program for one of Vanguard’s key business to consumer initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have strong marketing acumen, a desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment, an established track record of leadership impact, and a passion for developing crew.
• Leads the marketing strategy for their area of the business. Partners with relevant stakeholders across Vanguard to establish priorities, align work objectives and deliverables, and execute marketing plans. Coordinates governance activities with senior leadership and ensures integration across marketing partners.
• Serves as a thought leader on marketing and financial advice to senior leaders and others. Educates and inspires marketing and communications crew and their business partners regarding marketing strategies and best practices.
• Effectively leads, manages, and develops a high performing team while establishing an inclusive environment that adheres to Vanguard’s values. Sets measurable goals and examines ways to raise standards, to increase quality, and to improve overall performance of the team.
• Develops and implements operational plans to achieve divisional and corporate objectives. Oversees planning, development and execution of short and long range goals. Demonstrates initiative and creativity in independently recommending and implementing marketing solutions. Analyzes costs impacting marketing decisions and other related issues and develops cost effective solutions to marketing issues.
• Develops processes to gather and consolidate input from sales and client services regarding business needs. Proactively identifies opportunities to improve content and the positioning of topics critical to the business area. Ensures a consistent feedback loop between marketing, sales and client services.
• Develops and maintains broad knowledge of competitive offerings, market trends, and industry developments specific to the business area. Contacts clients and/or conducts research to understand client needs. Consults internally to convey findings and makes recommendations to senior leadership.
• Provides direction to team of Marketing Managers to develop, define, and execute multichannel marketing efforts to provide relevant, targeted messaging and thought leadership outreach to support the business and continually build the brand. Approves marketing budgets. Reviews expenses and ensures the unit operates within budgetary guidelines.
• Presents multichannel marketing measurement results to senior management as necessary. Monitors consistency of agreed upon tracking methodology. Understands parameters of a successful campaign, relevant analytics, and ensures desired results are measurable and tell a compelling story. Communicates progress, issues, and solutions to senior management to obtain input and buy-in. Provides written and verbal communication to many different audiences on status of marketing efforts.
Qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Master’s degree / MBA or specialized knowledge/experience/certifications in economy/markets/wealth management preferred.
• Minimum of eight years business to consumer marketing experience, including eight years financial services preferred.
• Superior interpersonal communication skills (assertive, consensus building).
• Ability to direct, align, manage, persuade and influence senior leaders to achieve a coordinated process with optimal outcomes.
• Strong written communication and presentation skills.
• Experience in delivering cross-departmental projects, strong project management and project leadership.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel).
• Broad understanding of the investment and financial advisor industry.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts quickly and complete multiple and diverse assignments.
• Proven ability to build, lead, and develop high performing teams.
• Demonstrated initiative self-starting.
