To manage data analysis and report compilation by collecting, compiling and calculating data to produce standard and ad-hoc reports for management, vendors and other departments. Facilitate and support data governance and integrity of FIS applications that house calculation and report methodologies for the business area. Act as a consultant to the business, translating data requests into meaningful information and educating clients toward self-provisioning tools..
Duties and Responsibilities
• Manages and supports the compilation of all relevant data provided through various sources, using advanced calculations, macros and best practices and executing key controls for accurate periodic and ad-hoc report generation to internal and external clients. Interprets data results for accuracy, identifying, troubleshooting, and maintaining data to produce complete reports, or providing recommendations for solution. Reconciles with external partners and authorizes data stewards to make appropriate updates.
• Maintains and shares comprehensive knowledge and documentation of data sources, application functionality, and calculation methodologies in order to ensure data integrity and reliability and enable proper usage and presentation of reporting attributes. Provides ongoing support, guidance, and direction to both management and peers, guiding toward self-provisioning as appropriate. Documents procedural deliverables, including report/task descriptions, key controls, execution instructions, timing of deliverable, and key stakeholders for all assigned report functions.
• Develops new or systematic reporting solutions to ad-hoc requests submitted via the FIND database. This includes the ability to understand business and functional requirements and provide sophisticated reporting solutions.
• Performs testing for new requirements or enhancements of department database systems; monitors and ensures data quality by using existing business knowledge to create test cases and monitoring reports that ensure data accuracy and completeness. Performs database maintenance tasks, data records updates and quarterly regression and/or post-certification testing. Ensures change management to data consumers.
• Maintains accountability and ownership for monthly/periodic reports and other projects assigned by developing and maintaining a strong understanding of data mining and analytical tools and techniques. Provides advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution in identifying issues/ trends in reports or source systems and recommends enhancements to work-flows that will improve operational efficiency. Integrates new or existing technologies into work-flows, analyzes impact, prepares environment for change, communicates changes to all team members, and updates or creates new procedures or work-flows.
• Interacts with members of Investment Management, FAS, FFS, IIG, Retail, Strategy and Finance, Planning and Development, Corporate and external business partners to research problems thoroughly, identifies root cause; provides or recommends action to be taken. Develops, produces and reviews processes to ensure that problems do not recur.
• Recommends changes that will enhance work-flows and procedures. Integrates new or existing technologies into work-flows and communicates to all team members. Analyzes impact, prepares work practices and environment for change, and updates or creates procedures.
• Works on special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Undergraduate degree (Accounting/Finance preferred) in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Three to five years mutual fund experience and/or combination of accounting and data analysis skills.
• Advanced knowledge and skills using current versions of the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Previous experience with one or more of the following data sources: VCATS, CMDA, COMPASS, VAST, VISTA, FactSet, Morningstar, Bloomberg and/or VIFI.
• Strong, demonstrated problem identification, analysis, and resolution skills.
• Strong attention to detail, organization and planning skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
