Description
Procurement Organization Fit
• The procurement organization reports to the Enterprise Innovation, Infrastructure and Integration group. (“EI3”)
• This role sits within the Sourcing section of the Procurement organization structure.
• The role reports to the senior Procurement representative for the technology portfolio.
• The role is responsible for managing the US technology sourcing team (currently 3 people) as well as dedicated technology sourcing resources supporting selected Enterprise CIO’s (currently 1 person).
Overview
• The Sourcing and Productivity (S&P) is a group of ~75 sourcing professionals, contract negotiations and analytics experts located across North America. S&P partners with revenue generating areas, technology and operations and corporate functions in the development and implementation of innovate sourcing strategies to achieve business, productivity and cost management objectives covering $4.9 billion in sourceable spend across 13,000 suppliers.
• S&P leads key phases of the supplier development lifecycle with a specific focus on back-to-market strategies and supplier negotiations to drive benefits for the organization. They also play a key role in ensuring supplier contracts are assessed through the supplier risk assessment framework and partner with corporate support areas (CSAs) to ensure the appropriate risk language exists and BMO is protected and compliant with regulatory guidelines.
• This role promotes and supports the Enterprise’s sourcing and productivity culture including ensuring employees understand their accountabilities for sourcing activities, promoting an environment of open communication and effective challenge, and establishing the “tone from the top” through leading by example. The role is accountable for supporting the Enterprise’s operations in sourcing, outsourcing, offshoring, contract terms, and supply life cycle.
• As a Senior Leader in Procurement, this role is responsible for overseeing the provision of a high standard for Procurement on a range of complex issues, initiatives and transactions always supporting and reinforcing the Enterprise’s commitment to maximizing shareholder value and contributing to the Enterprise’s high performance culture and reputation with shareholders, and other stakeholders.

This role has the authority to:
• Act as SME in the execution of the enterprise Sourcing methodology, including competitive bid process and the Procurements Ethics Guideline
• Act in a second line of defense role with respect to outsourcing and supplier risk providing guidance and counsel to business units to ensure effective risk management and control during the Supplier Engagement process.
• Interact with SVPs / VPs / Directors in portfolio areas supported by ESS
Scope and Impact
• Accountable for sourcing and supplier risk management influence and impact on the technology portfolio.
• Leading or supporting business unit supplier engagement, identification and execution of sourcing savings through cost reduction and cost avoidance and cost management strategies.
• Accountable for US Technology relationships and specific CIO portfolios covering the wealth and capital markets lines of business on an enterprise scope.
• Impact of this role is Enterprise wide
• Direct impact on Sourcing events and supplier engagement through negotiations of price and demonstration of value and risk mitigation
• Accountable for execution of strategies that contribute to Productivity initiatives and Sourcing savings with a drive towards cost management targets.
Qualifications
Education/Working Experience
• 10+ years in related strategic sourcing, supply chain and or procurement work experience
• MBA, Master’s, undergraduate or related college diploma in a related discipline (BA, CPA, CGA, CMA, Supplier Chain Management Diploma or Certificate)
Technical Skills / Knowledge
• Significant experience in business advisory consulting, client relationship management and/or supplier management
• Ability to adapt easily across many situations, seeking out the most effective approach to an issue in order to increase the value brought to the team
