Summary
This role is responsible for providing leadership for the development and implementation of Workforce Relations processes/systems, practices, and services that enable our ability to provide direction and consult to leaders and employees. This role will guide, coach, and mentor a community of practice to ensure the highest level of effectiveness for our Workforce Relations policies and practices, while also working with the same for a designated client base.
Responsibilities and Scope:
Create and implement Workforce Relations programs, processes, and tools to support the evolving needs of the enterprise and that result in:
• A respectful workplace experience for both leaders and their employees while balancing risk assessment for Thrivent and its employees.
• Thought based solutions to efficiently address workforce issues in a timely manner.
• Meaningful metrics and analytics to measure effectiveness of the programs and processes and their impact on the enterprise.
• Trusted partnerships with key stakeholders within the enterprise (eg, Code of Conduct, Safety & Security, Counsel, Workforce Services, HRBPs, etc)
Works within established programs and processes with leaders and employees to ensure workforce effectiveness:
• Provides ER counsel to other WFRS team members in resolving complex ER issues.
• Counsels and supports leaders in managing off-target performance and behavior utilizing coaching, performance improvement plans, written notices and/or termination procedures as necessary
• Conducts investigations of complaints; reviews and analyzes the information gathered; and, works with managers, legal and/or outside counsel on recommendations and appropriate course of action
• Guides leaders through staff reduction decision making process and provides transition support to impacted employees
• Develops and delivers training regarding workforce relations matters and employment law issues
Build a community of practice to drive Workforce Relations effectiveness across the enterprise:
• Creates the parameters for decentralized teams to follow, while remaining flexible and open to creating and customizing solutions to meet varying needs.
• Provide thought leadership, mentorship/coaching, and development opportunities for the community to increase their skills and grow professionally.
• Provides oversight to workforce relations budget and charge back model for shared tools.
• Provide guidance and approve exceptions on policies and programs.
• Provide coverage for others / assign coverage for OOTO needs.
Qualifications:
• College degree required
• Deep expertise in Workforce Relations and employment law; minimum of 5 years.
• Proven ability to design and implement programs that drive business results and workforce effectiveness.
• Proven experience with influence as a trusted advisor.
• Experience in leading and mentoring others.
